How should The City use $52 Million? – public engagement starts today at Bankers Hall

Calgary, AB… Today, the face-to-face public engagement process for The City of Calgary’s $52 million tax room program gets underway at Bankers Hall from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

This engagement process is part of the public consultation regarding the $52 million tax room which was started on May 16, 2013 by Calgary City Council, with the support of Administration.

The public consultation consists of online and face-to-face opportunities:

Visit calgary.ca/52million for an overview and explanations of all five options, including videos of Mayor Nenshi and five Aldermen. Citizens are invited to tell Council what they like and don’t like about each of the five options.
Public consultations in malls in all four quadrants of the city to obtain face-to-face feedback. The schedule for the malls is as follows:

A live debate among members of City Council supporting the five options will be held at the Devonian Gardens on Tuesday, May 28 from 12:00 p.m. – 12:45 p.m.
The public consultation will conclude on June 2, 2013 at 12 midnight. The results of the public consultation will be reported to the Priorities and Finance Committee on July 16, 2013 and to City Council on July 22, 2013.
The consultation results will also be posted to calgary.ca/52million, along with Council’s decision.
