Flood-affected Municipal Bylaw Offence court dates rescheduled to July 17, 2013
The City of Calgary’s Law Department is reminding citizens who were unable to make recent appearances at the Calgary Courts Centre due to flooding that they need to appear in court on or before July 17, 2013.
This message is applicable to citizens with violation tickets for a Municipal Bylaw Offence whose matter was scheduled for an appearance on any of the following dates:
- Friday, June 21, 2013
- Monday, June 24, 2013
- Tuesday, June 25, 2013
- Wednesday, June 26, 2013
- Thursday, June 27, 2013
- Friday, June 28, 2013
If the defendant, lawyer or agent was unable to attend on any of these dates, the appearance was automatically rescheduled to Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at 9:30 a.m. in either Courtroom 908 or Courtroom 1405.
"I encourage those affected to come down to the Calgary Courts Centre and speak to their matters before July 17 if possible,” says Amanda Hart, manager of the Prosecutions division with The City of Calgary’s Law Department. “We’re expecting very high volumes on that day.”
Failure of the defendant, lawyer or agent to appear at the Calgary Courts Centre on or before Wednesday, July 17, 2013 may result in a summons, warrant for arrest, or conviction in absence.
Municipal Bylaw Offences include parking infractions, transit offences, pet and animal offences, and business license offences.
