Crews Respond to House Fire in Edgemont
At approximately 1215 this morning the Calgary Fire Department responded to a 911 call for a house fire in the 100 block of Edcath Place in the northwest community of Edgemont. On arrival, crews were met by the occupants and found a large fire on the exterior of a two story single family dwelling.
Crews quickly brought the fire under control with an aggressive exterior fire attack and were able to quickly gain entry to the home. Once inside, firefighters searched the house for occupants and confirmed that all had evacuated. The fire crews quickly ventilated the interior of the home to limit smoke damage. Firefighters continue to expose burned parts of the house in an effort to fully extinguish any remaining fire. Damage from the fire was limited to the building of origin, and crews will be working at the scene for the next several hours. Investigators are on scene, and the cause of the fire has not yet been determined. There were no injuries at this fire scene, and all occupants are safe and accounted for.
The Calgary Fire Department would like to remind citizens that working smoke alarms can save lives, and both smoke and carbon monoxide alarms should be tested monthly. Plan, discuss and practice your home escape plan with everyone in your residence.
