Serving on the Front Line—City of Calgary Emergency Services Career Fair happening this weekend

Calgarians interested in a career in public service are invited to attend the City of Calgary Emergency Services Career Fair, taking place this weekend on May 30 and 31, at the Calgary Multi-Agency Training Centre (MAT, 5705 23 Avenue SE) from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

This two-day event is hosted by the Calgary Fire Department, Calgary Police Service, ALTA Paramedic Health (previously Emergency Medical Services), Calgary Transit Public Safety, Community Safety (Bylaw), and Calgary 911. All those interested in learning more are encouraged to attend on May 30, while May 31 is dedicated specifically to women who want to pursue a career in emergency services.

“This event gives people the opportunity to connect directly with our teams, ask questions, and gain a clear understanding of what a career in emergency services looks like,” said Tania Tyson, Recruitment Officer with The Calgary Fire Department. “The Women on the Front Line day on May 31, is an important part of this. It’s about creating space for women to explore these careers, connect with those already doing the work, and see themselves reflected in frontline roles as we continue building a diverse workforce that represents the communities we serve.”

Now in its third year, this career fair continues to grow as a collaborative effort across Calgary’s emergency services, reflecting the strong partnerships between agencies and a shared commitment to serving the community.

Multiple agencies are currently accepting new recruits, and this is an opportunity for attendees to get a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to be on the front line. There will be opportunities to connect with recruitment teams, experience interactive displays, see demonstrations, and gain insight into the day-to-day life of a responder. Participants will also learn more about hiring timelines, intake processes, and the qualifications required to apply.
