Calgary Fire Department Launches 100+ Birthday Visit Program
As we celebrate the 40th anniversary of Seniors’ Week in Alberta, the Calgary Fire Department (CFD) is launching a new program to celebrate Calgarians who are turning 100+ years old.
If you, a friend or a relative is turning 100 years old or more, you can submit a request for firefighters to help you celebrate. A crew of firefighters will pull up to your door in a fire truck and will pop in to help you party with your friends and loved ones.
“As first responders, it is important for us to stay connected with the community and the people we serve. This program allows us to recognize the value and experience of older adults in Calgary, while celebrating their lives and achievements with them,” said Calgary Fire Chief, Steve Dongworth.
“We have already visited several Calgarians who turned 100+ years old and had great conversations with the celebrants and their guests. I hope this program allows us to visit more Calgarians who are celebrating a big birthday and show them our appreciation”.
Please visit calgary.ca/100birthday to find out who is eligible and how to apply. This program is for people who are turning 100 years old or more within Calgary City limits and is not for any other celebrations.
