Two Alarm Building Fire in Calgary’s NE
On March 1st, 2026, at approximately 12 noon the Calgary Fire Department (CFD) was called to the industrial area of 31st Street and 14th Avenue NE for a possible building fire. On arrival the CFD found a 2-story commercial warehouse structure with significant smoke showing. Firefighters secured a water supply and began fighting the fire from the outside with large caliber hose lines. Due to the size and occupancy of the building and the resulting fire and hazardous materials involved a second alarm was called to support the incident.
Fire crews used multiple hose lines to bring the fire under control and sent crews both interior and to the roof to end the spread of fire. Crews with the assistance of the Calgary Police Service (CPS) were able to quickly search and evacuate the adjacent businesses and all were able to escape unharmed. Fifteen people were assessed by EHS for smoke inhalation concerns, with no transport of patients necessary.
Crews from Atco and Enmax were on scene to isolate utilities, and CPS also provided necessary assistance controlling roads and the perimeter.
Crews remain on scene, to ensure that there are no flareups of fire and to assist the investigators.
The cause has yet to be determined.
