Civic Census Online 2018

Count yourself in. The civic census online will open on Monday, April 2 at 7 a.m. for census submissions. Residents of Calgary will receive an access code in the mail which can be used on calgary.ca/census to complete their census online beginning on April 2, 2018.

“The census online is fast and simple to use.” said Laura Kennedy, City Clerk. “Census data is important to The City of Calgary as it helps us make informed decisions to plan City services used every day. This year the City is proud to acknowledge 60 years of Calgarians’ help in planning Calgary’s future”

The information collected is used by The City for the planning of services, such as roads, transit, recreation and water services. It is also used by the public and separate school boards for enrolment predictions and decisions on future schools; and by the provincial government for determining per capita grant allocations where available.

Calgarians will receive access codes beginning March 28, 2018. If a resident does not receive their access code by April 9th or has lost their access code they can simply visit calgary.ca/census to request a new access code. If a resident has technical difficulties or has questions about the census online, they can call 403-476-4100 (option 3), Monday to Friday between 8 am and 8 pm for assistance.

For residents who are unable to complete the census online, door-to-door census collection will begin on April 20, 2018. Once the collection period is over, if a dwelling is missed residents can also call the Election and Census office at 403-476-4100 (option 3) to provide their information.

All information provided during this process is confidential and secure. Census Data is available on a city-wide basis or by geographic areas such as communities, never identifying individuals or single dwellings. The 2018 census results will be available approximately three months after census collection is complete.
