City’s Expert Flood Panel Seeking Subject Matter Experts
The City of Calgary’s Expert River Flood Mitigation Panel is extending an invitation to interested and qualified subject matter experts who would be willing to contribute their time to provide strategic input, technical support and analysis and make recommendations to The City of Calgary on flood mitigation and resiliency.
Six areas of study and action have been identified by the Panel that require examination, evaluation and prioritization. Specific knowledge is needed to be brought to bear on questions in the six areas, identify gaps in knowledge to be addressed, make recommendations on work programs, and review reports.
The six areas include:
- Changing Climate;
- Watershed Management;
- Event Forecasting;
- Storage, Diversion and Protection;
- Infrastructure and Property Resiliency; and
- Additional Risk Management.

Participation in the panel’s work will involve limited hours (approximately 10-20 hours) over a short period of time (December 2013 to June 2014). Interested parties should submit a brief summary of their credentials including qualifications, previous experience in the relevant area of study, reason for participating and area of interest by November 30, 2013.
