City Services: Thanksgiving 2016

We're adjusting our hours of operation for Thanksgiving, Monday, Oct. 10.
Here's a complete list of what you need to know:

Getting Around:
Calgary Transit
Calgary Transit will provide a Sunday level of service on Monday, Oct. 10.

CTrain Service will be disrupted from Oct. 8–10 at Southland, Anderson, Canyon Meadows and Fish Creek-Lacombe stations. Shuttle buses will replace CTrain service between Southland and Fish Creek-Lacombe stations.

Parking
On-street parking is free and Holiday rates will be in effect at select Calgary Parking Authority surface lots and parkades on Thanksgiving (Oct 10, 2016).

Things to do:
Visit a Fire Station
It’s Fire Prevention Week! Visit one of four fire station open houses taking place on Oct. 8 from 1-4 p.m., with tours, treats and tons of information about how to keep your family and home safe from fire. The doors will be open for your family to explore at Symons Valley Fire Station 40, Saddleridge Fire Station 32, Signal Hill Fire Station 33 and McKenzie Town Fire Station 30.

Catch a wave, play in the gym or go for a skate at a Leisure Centre
Village Square and Southland Leisure Centres (including the arenas) will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Oct. 10. Regular admission applies.

Enjoy a round of golf
Visit calgary.ca/golf to book a tee time, print score cards and learn more about special offers at our six municipal courses located throughout the city (Lakeview and Richmond Green Golf Courses are now closed for the season).

Dive into a FREE family swim
Kick up some fun at Bob Bahan Aquatic & Fitness Centre, Killarney Aquatic & Recreation Centre, Renfrew Aquatic & Recreation Centre and Shouldice Aquatic Centre. These Aquatic Centres have free swims from 1-2:30 p.m. and 3-4:30 p.m. on Oct. 10.

Glide your way to a FREE family skate
Strap on skates and enjoy a free skate at Ernie Starr Arena, Murray Copot Arena, Rose Kohn/ Jimmie Condon Arenas, Shouldice Arena and Stew Hendry/Henry Viney Arenas from 1-2:30 p.m. on Oct. 10.

Community events:
Looking for some fun, family-friendly activities to enjoy over the long weekend? Light up the night with Illuminasia at The Calgary Zoo, enjoy a traditional turkey dinner and hoedown at Heritage Park, or watch the Calgary Hitmen in action. The following facilities will be closed on Monday, Oct. 10, 2016:

Around the house:
Leaf & Pumpkin Composting
Bring your bagged leaves and pumpkins to one of the 32 drop-off locations or three City of Calgary Landfills for free through Nov. 6. The material will be composted rather than thrown away in the landfill.

All three City operated landfills are open and there are no changes to garbage and recycling pick-up on Monday, Oct 10. Please put your blue and black carts out as usual.
