City hosts 2016 Flood Readiness Information Sessions

The risk of river flooding in Calgary is greatest between May 15 and July 15 each year. As such The City is hosting two information sessions next week to share what steps we’re taking and what citizens can do to prepare for the potential of flooding this year.

What: Flood Readiness Information Sessions

When & Where:

1.The Bow River flood readiness information session is on Tuesday, May 3 at the Foothills Academy, 745 37 St. NW.

2.The Elbow River flood readiness information session is on Thursday, May 5 at Calgary First Church of the Nazarene, 65 Richard Way SW.

Program for both sessions:
Doors open at 5:30 p.m.
Presentations: 6:00 – 7:30 p.m.
Displays and discussion: until 8:30 p.m.

Who: The City of Calgary Water Services & Resources
          Calgary Emergency Management Agency (CEMA)
          Government of Alberta
          TransAlta Utilities

Additionally, citizens interested in learning more about emergency preparedness are encouraged to attend Disaster Alley at McMahon Stadium on Saturday, May 7 from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.
