City Crews Continue Reponse to Snow: UPDATE

The City of Calgary’s Roads crews have continued their response to the recent increase in today’s snowfall and are preparing for the evening commute by maintaining all major commuter routes. As snow begins to accumulate, crews will plow as necessary.

As the snow continues to fall, crews will primarily focus on the Priority 1 routes or all major commuter routes. A Snow Route Parking Ban has not yet been determined, however, Parking Bans are typically called once a snowfall has stopped or significantly slowed to allow Roads crews to move into feeder and collector routes for curb to curb maintenance.

The first and only Snow Route Parking Ban of the 2012- 2013 winter season was called on Sunday, November 11. Watch this video on The City of Calgary’s News blog to hear Roads Director Ryan Jestin describe how The City decides to call a Snow Route Parking Ban.

Drivers are reminded to drive according to the conditions: plan on your regular commute taking more time than usual.

There are several ways Calgarians can stay informed with up to date information, such as The City of Calgary’s Road Conditions map found at Calgary.ca/roadconditions, Calgary.ca or by contacting 311. Smartphone users can also download The City’s Road Conditions App for free on iTunes.
