Citizens invited to Glenmore Atheletic Park information session

The City of Calgary is planning to redevelop Glenmore Athletic Park and is inviting citizens to learn more about the project as well as provide feedback into aspects of its development. The session is on Wednesday, May 22, 2013, 5:30-8:30pm at River Park Church, located at 3808 14A Street SW.

Currently home to sport fields, ball diamonds, a velodrome and a ‘Class A’ 400 meter track and field facility, The City is planning to implement facility, site and infrastructure improvements to ensure the athletic park remains usable and safe.

“We want to ensure citizens have a chance to provide input into the park’s concept plans,” said Shelley Shea, manager of the South Region with Recreation. “This is a large, complex project and we are interested in citizens’ feedback in helping to shape this incredible amenity for them.”

The City will be reporting on information gathered from previous sessions and will be asking citizens in attendance to participate in a feedback exercise. This will ultimately inform decisions related to the design of the site including pedestrian, bike and vehicular access and movement.

Representatives from Recreation, Transportation Planning, Parks and Water Resources will be on-site to answer any questions related to the plans for the athletic park.

For citizens who cannot attend on May 22, an online feedback form will be made available from May 23 to June 5, 2013 via Calgary.ca/recreationproject. The concept plans and information gathered from the session will also be posted on the site.
