Celebrate International Migratory Bird Day

Want to know more about Calgary’s birds? Attend the world’s biggest migratory bird festival at the Inglewood Bird Sanctuary this weekend.

The sanctuary is a rest stop for thousands of birds each spring as they journey to their respective breeding grounds.

“International Migratory Bird Day is a celebration not only of bird migration, but bird conservation as well,” said Kym McCulley, Leader of Parks Environmental and Education Initiatives. “We invite Calgarians to join us as we welcome back our feathered friends, celebrate their epic journey and learn more about the importance of conserving these species and their habitats.”

Join us for free guided tours, interpretive programs, refreshments and an art contest this Saturday, May 11 starting at noon.

Date: Saturday, May 11, 2013
Time: Noon to 3:30 p.m.
Location: Inglewood Bird Sanctuary (2425 – 9 Ave. S.E.)

A smaller event will take place Sunday, May 12 from noon to 3:30 p.m. Stop by for a guided walk, crafts and a self-guided bird bingo.
