Calgary road closures and lane restrictions for June 17, 2013

New road closures and lane restrictions

Southwest
14 Street S.W. north of 17 Avenue S.W. to 16 Avenue S.W. will be closed from 7 p.m. on Friday, June 21 to 5 a.m. on Monday, June 24, for underground utility installation.
 
9A Street S.W. between 17 Avenue S.W. and 18 Avenue S.W. will be closed from 9 a.m. on Monday, June 17 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, June 22, for utility installations.
 
Southeast
Southbound 36 Street S.E. at Marlborough CTrain Station will have the left lane closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, June 18, for construction.

Bonaventure Drive between 86 Avenue S.E. and 90 Avenue S.E. will be reduced to one lane in each direction for emergency water service repairs, from 9 a.m. Tuesday, June 18 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 19.  Traffic will be directed to the west side of Bonaventure Drive to bypass construction.
 
 
Ongoing road closures and lane restrictions
 
Southwest
Hull Avenue S.W. between Horton Road S.W. and Macleod Trail will be closed from 7 p.m. on Monday, June 3 until 3 p.m. on Friday, July 12, for major road reconstruction.

The northbound right lane on Centre Street between 6 Avenue S.W. and 5 Avenue S.W. is closed until further notice. This is due to emergency utility work.
 
Southeast
There will be various single lane closures on northbound and southbound Macleod Trail at 210 Avenue SE from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily Monday – Friday and  7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturdays from Saturday, June 15 until Saturday, June 22,  to allow for construction related to intersection upgrades.  Macleod Trail is already part of a construction zone with a reduced speed limit of 60 km/h that will remain in effect 24/7 due construction activities close to the roadway.
 
The right lane will be closed on southbound 52 Street S.E. south of Peigan Trail from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily Monday, June 17 until Wednesday June 19, to allow for new roadway construction related to the Peigan Trail extension.  52 Street S.E. is already part of a construction zone with a reduced speed limit of 50 km/h that will remain in effect 24/7 due construction activities close to the roadway.

Macleod Trail between 13 Avenue S.E. and 14 Avenue S.E. will have the two Centre Lanes closed from 9 a.m. on Thursday, June 13 until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 18, for construction of underground utility.
 
Blackfoot Trail bridge over Glenmore Trail S.E. will have the speed limit reduced to 50 km/h starting at 5 a.m. Wednesday, June 12 and continuing through the 2014 construction season, for work related to the Blackfoot Trail Bridge rehabilitation project.  There will be various stages of construction which will have traffic pattern changes on Blackfoot Trail and lanes closures on both Blackfoot Trail and Glenmore Trail.  For further information please go to Calgary.ca and search “Blackfoot bridge”.

Northbound and southbound 52 Street S.E. at McKenzie Towne Avenue will have the right lane closed and speed limit reduced to 50 km/h from 9 a.m.to 3:30 p.m. daily, starting Wednesday, June 5 for approximately two weeks, to allow for installation of a new traffic signal.
 
Northwest
Sarcee Trail between John Laurie Boulevard and Crowchild Trail will be reduced to one lane in each direction starting at 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. daily between Tuesday, June 4 until Saturday, June 29, for sound wall replacement.

Eastbound 16 Avenue N.W. between Bowness Road and Shaganappi Trail will have various lane closures throughout the month of June until the end of June, for bridge rehabilitation.

Westbound 16 Avenue N.W. west of Sarcee Trail will have the right lane closed from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily throughout the month of June until the end of June, for noise wall replacement.
 
Bowness Road at 16 Avenue N.W. will have various lane closures throughout the month of June until the end of June, for bridge repair.
Eastbound 16 Avenue N.W. at Crowchild Trail will have the right lane closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily throughout the month of June until the end of June, for sound wall replacement.
 
Long term projects – road closures and lane restrictions
 
Northwest
Eastbound 2 Avenue N.W. between 10 Street N.W. and 9A Street N.W. will be closed from 9 a.m. on Wednesday, May 8 until 6 p.m. on Sunday, June 30, for construction.
 
Bowness Road N.W. at 16 Avenue N.W. will have various daily lane restrictions, from 6 p.m. on Monday, May 21 until Sunday, June 30, for bridge rehabilitation project.
 
Northeast
36 Street N.E. will be closed between 80 Avenue N.E. and Country Hills Boulevard, beginning Monday, April 8, between Airport Trail and Country Hills Boulevard for the roadway to be reconstructed from two lanes to four lanes. The closure, which will last approximately four months, will allow Airport Trail connections to be made to 36 Street N.E. eastbound from the Airport Trail tunnel. Southwest
Westbound 13 Avenue S.W. between 1 Street S.W. to 4 Street S.W. will be closed starting at 7 a.m. on Monday, April 29, for approximately two months for the 13 Avenue Heritage Greenway Project.
 
Southeast
68 Street S.E. between 106 Avenue S.E. and 108 Avenue S.E. will have all traffic shifted to an adjacent eastside road, to allow for utility installations and surface upgrades, starting at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 6. The speed limit of the detour road will be reduced to 30 km/h. This stage of construction is expected to last until mid-June. Updates will be provided as the project progresses.
