Calgary road closures and lane restrictions for August 7, 2013

From 1 p.m., Friday, August 9, to 6 a.m., Saturday, August 10:
• 10 Street S.E. between 9 Avenue and 10 Avenue will have a partial closure of 10 Avenue S.E.

 

From 5 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday, August 10, there will be the following closures:

• 2 Avenue S.E. between Center Street S.E. to Riverfront Avenue S.E.
• 3 Avenue S.E. between Center Street S.E. to 1 Street S.E.
• 1 Street S.E. from Riverfront Avenue S.E. to 4 Street S.E.

 

From 5 a.m. to 7 p.m., Sunday, August 11, there will be the following closures:
• 33 Avenue S.W. from 19 Street S.W. to 22 Street S.W.
• 34 Avenue S.W. from 19 Street S.W. to 22 Street S.W.
• 19 Street S.W. from 32 Avenue S.W. to 34 Avenue S.W.
• 20 Street S.W. from 32 Avenue S.W. to 34 Avenue S.W.
• 21 Street S.W. from 32 Avenue S.W. to 34 Avenue S.W.
• These roads are closed to traffic. It is advised that attendees use public transit.
• Calgary Police Service will be on site to direct traffic

 

From 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday, August 10, and again from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., Sunday, August 11 there will be the following parking/lane restrictions:
• Crowchild South of 66 Avenue S.W. will have parking  restrictions
• Calgary police Service will be on site directing traffic
• Speed reductions to 50 km/h
• People are advised to use transit

 

From 3 p.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday, August 10, there will be the following closures:
• 2 Avenue S.W. from 4 Street S.W. to 6 Street S.W.
• 3 Avenue S.W. from 4 Street S.W. to 6 Street S.W.
• 4 Street S.W. from 2 Avenue S.W. to 3 Avenue S.W.
• 5 Street S.W. from 2 Avenue S.W. to 3 Avenue S.W.
• 6 Street S.W. from 2 Avenue S.W. to 3 Avenue S.W.
• These roads are closed to traffic; this is the race circuit
• Calgary Police Service will be on site to direct traffic

 

From 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., Saturday, August 10, there will be the following lane restrictions:
• Chaparral Boulevard S.E. at Chaparral Drive S.E.
• Chaparral Boulevard S.E. at 194 Avenue S.E.
• Speed reductions to 50 km/h
• Calgary Police Service will be on site to direct traffic

 

From 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., Sunday, August 11, there will be the following lane restrictions:
• Chaparral Boulevard S.E.  at Chaparral Drive S.E.
• Chaparral Boulevard  S.E. at 194 Avenue S.E.
• Speed reductions to 50 km/h
• Calgary Police Service will be on site to direct traffic

The ride will proceed from Grey Eagle Casino & Bingo in Calgary to Okotoks. From 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday, August 10, there will be various  lane restrictions along the following:
• 37 Street S.W. and Glenmore Trail S.W. roundabout
• Northbound Sarcee Road S.W.
• Westbound 26 Avenue S.W.
• Southbound Signal Hill Drive S.W.
• Signal Hill Area
• Springbank Hill Area
• Westbound lower Springbank Road S.W.
• Westbound Glenmore Trail S.W., west of 101 Street S.W.
• Speed in the lane reduced areas will be reduced to 50 km/h
• Drivers are advised to be aware of cyclists in the curb lanes of these areas
• Calgary Police Service will be on site to direct traffic

 

The second leg of the ride will proceed from Okotoks to Grey Eagle Casino & Bingo in Calgary. From 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Sunday, August 11, there will be various lane restrictions along the following:
• Eastbound Highway 22X will have a single, right lane closure from 37 Street S.W. to 24 Street S.W. from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Sunday, August 11.

From 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Sunday, August 11, there will be the following lane restrictions:
• Northbound 37 Street S.W.
• Northbound Oakfield Drive S.W.
• Speed in the lane reduced areas will be reduced to 50 km/h
• Drivers are advised to be aware of cyclists in the curb lanes of these areas
• Calgary Police Service will be on site to direct traffic

 

Northwest
10 Street N.W. between 5 Avenue N.W. and 13 Avenue N.W. will be reduced to one lane in both directions from 7 a.m. Saturday, August 3 to 6 p.m., Thursday, August 8, for an emergency utility repair.

 

Westbound 16 Avenue, west of Sarcee Trail N.W., will have one, right lane closed for sound wall construction from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Thursday, August 8 and again from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Friday, August 9.

Eastbound Kensington road between 10A Street and 10 Street N.W., will be reduced to one lane for construction, daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., beginning on Thursday, August 8 until Tuesday, August 13.

 

Southwest
22 Street S.W. at 27 Avenue S.W. will be closed for a community event from 12:00 p.m., Thursday August 8, to 1:00 pm on Saturday August 10.

68 Street S.E. north of 114 Avenue S.E. will be closed  for construction from 6 a.m., Friday August 9, to 12 p.m., on Monday August 12.

5 Street S.W. from 4 Avenue S.W. to 6 Avenue S.W., will have two left lanes closed continuously with an additional center lane closure during non-peak times.  There will be weekend closures at all adjoining intersections as well as parking restrictions in the area. Drivers are advised to obey traffic signage and should consider alternative routes. This construction, beginning Monday, August 12 at 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with night work when necessary, is expected to last three to six weeks.

 

4 Avenue S.W. from 4 Street S.W. to 5 Street S.W. will have two left lanes closed continuously with an additional center lane closure during non-peak times.  There will be weekend closures at all adjoining intersections as well as parking restrictions in the area. Southeast
84 Street S.E. will be closed from 9 Avenue S.E. to 17 Avenue S.E. for the utility installation of a water line from 7 a.m., Thursday, August 8, to 6 p.m., Sunday, August 11. Detour signage will be posted. Residents are advised to use 100 Street, also known as Garden Road, to detour the area.

6 Avenue S.E. at 1 Street S.E. will be reduced to two lanes for utility work daily, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Thursday, August 8 and again from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Friday, August 9.

1 Street S.E. will be reduced to two lanes between 5 Avenue S.E. and 6 Avenue S.E. for utility work daily, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Thursday, August 8 and again from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Friday, August 9.

5 Avenue S.E. will have one lane closed through rush hour for utility work daily, from 3 p.m., Thursday, August 8, to 8 p.m., Sunday, August 11.

1 Street S.E. will have one lane closed through rush hour for utility work daily, from 3 p.m., Thursday, August 8, to 8 p.m., Sunday, August 11.

 

Northeast
Samis Road N.E. between Centre Street North and 1 Street N.E. will be closed from 9 a.m. Monday, July 29 until Saturday, August 17 at 6 p.m., for utility work.

McKnight Boulevard N.E. between 19 Street N.E. and 52 Street N.E. will be reduced to one lane nightly from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. from Monday, July 29 until Saturday, August 24, for paving.

Edmonton Trail between 28 Avenue N.E. and 41 Avenue N.E. will be restricted to the two west lanes, one lane in each direction starting at 6 a.m. on Saturday, July 21. The two east lanes are closed for reconstruction for approximately three months. Access to several roads on the east side of Edmonton Trail is also closed. Businesses and residents will still have access from the east. The sidewalks along the east side are closed and bus stops will be temporarily re-located. 36 Street N.E. will be closed between 80 Avenue N.E. and Country Hills Boulevard, beginning Monday, April 8, between Airport Trail and Country Hills Boulevard for the roadway to be reconstructed from two lanes to four lanes. The closure, which will last approximately four months, will allow Airport Trail connections to be made to 36 Street N.E. eastbound from the Airport Trail tunnel. Southeast
68 Street S.E. between Abercove Drive S.E. to Applewood Drive S.E. will have one lane closed in each direction from7 a.m., Tuesday, August 6 to 6 p.m., Monday, August 12, for water services maintenance.

The northbound, right lane of 52 Street S.E. at Peigan Trail will be closed for construction from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday, August 8. Drivers are advised that there will be speed reductions to 50 km/hour.

48 Street S.E. north of 90 Avenue will be closed until 3 p.m. on Monday, August 12, for utility work.

90 Avenue S.E. between 48 Street S.E. and 52 Street S.E. will have one lane closed in each direction from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily from Monday, July 22 until Friday, July 26. In addition, the lane will be restricted between 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. from Monday, July 29 until Monday, August 12, for utilities.

3 Street S.E. between 7 Avenue S.E. and 9 Avenue S.E. will have one lane in both directions closed until the end of September, due to flood damage.

15 Street S.E. (Heritage) between Heritage Drive to westbound Glenmore Trail will be closed until approximately Thursday, August 15, for reconstruction of the road due to flood damage.

114 Avenue S.E. between 68 Street S.E. to Stoney Trail will have the speed reduced to 50 km/h from 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 16 until the end of September due to construction activities adjacent to the roadway. This work is being completed for the Stoney Trail tie-in work.

Southwest
10 Street S.W. will be closed between 6 Avenue and 7 Avenue from 6 a.m., Friday August 9, to 9 p.m. Sunday, August 25 for S-Park. Business access between 6 Avenue and alleyways will be maintained on weekdays.

The single lane bridge on 9 Avenue S.W. over 14 Street S.W. will be closed beginning at 9 a.m. on Monday, July 15. Traffic will be maintained on the two eastbound lanes on 9 Avenue S.W. over 14 Street S.W. In addition, 14 Street S.W. under the 9 Avenue S.W. bridge will have various lane closures starting at 9 a.m. on Monday, July 15 continuing until the end of September, for the 9 Avenue bridge over 14 Street S.W. rehabilitation.

Eastbound Memorial Drive over Deerfoot Trail N.E. will be reduced to the two right lanes from east of St. George’s Drive N.E. Drivers wishing to travel south on Deerfoot Trail from eastbound Memorial Drive will need to use the St. George’s Drive off ramp exit. Drivers wishing to travel northbound on Deerfoot Trail from eastbound Memorial Drive can still access the northbound ramp from the right lane. This traffic pattern is expected to last for four weeks before switching to the left lanes. Traffic speeds have been reduced to ensure the safety of travellers and construction crews. Stoney Trail/Highway 22X will be reduced to one lane in each direction between the Deerfoot Trail interchange and east of the McKenzie/Cranston intersection nightly between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. from Saturday, July 29 to Saturday, August 10 to accommodate bridge work. Lanes will shift throughout construction but one lane will remain open in each direction and speed limits will be reduced to 50 km/h during this night work.
