Calgary road closures - May12, 2014
Northeast
Southbound 52 Street N.E. is reduced to one lane at 26 Avenue N.E. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily until Friday, May 16 for utility work.
Eastbound Memorial Drive is reduced to one lane at 4 Street N.E. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily until Saturday, May 31 due to construction.
Northwest
Parking will be restricted on westbound Varsity Estates Drive at 53 Street N.W. from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily from Monday, May 12 to Friday, May 16 due to utility work.
There will be various lane closures on eastbound Memorial Drive between Crowchild Trail and 16 Street N.W. until Thursday, May 15 due to riverbank restoration. On weekdays lane restrictions will be in effect daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and on weekends daily from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Southeast
NEW: Olympic Way S.E. will be reduced to one lane in each direction between 11 Avenue S.E. and 12 Avenue S.E. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily from Tuesday, May 13 to Friday, May 16 due to construction.
NEW: 3 Street S.E. will be reduced to one lane in each direction between 6 Avenue S.E. and 8 Avenue S.E. from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, May 13 due to construction.
NEW: Two right lanes will be closed on Macleod Trail between 7 Avenue S.E. and 8 Avenue S.E. from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
NEW: There will be series of single lane closures on northbound and southbound 52 Street S.E. at Peigan Trail from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily on Tuesday, May 13 and Wednesday, May 14 to allow for new roadway construction related to the Peigan Trail extension project. 52 Street S.E. is already part of a construction zone with a reduced speed limit of 60 km/h that will remain in effect 24/7 due to construction activities adjacent to roadway.
NEW: There will be series of single lane closures on southbound 24 Street S.E. at 107 Avenue / 18 Street S.E. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily on Tuesday, May 13 and Wednesday, May 14 due to traffic signal work.
Extended: The right lane will be closed on southbound 52 Street S.E. between 68 Avenue and 72 Avenue S.E from 7 a.m. on Sunday, April 27 to Saturday, May 24 due to utility work. The speed limit will be reduced to 50 km/h at this time. In addition, 68 Avenue S.E. will be closed west of 52 Street S.E. with traffic detoured to 64 Avenue and 72 Avenue S.E. The regional pathway on the west side of 52 Street S.E. will be closed and detoured to the east side of 52 Street S.E. Local business access will be maintained. Alternate routes such as Barlow Trail are recommended as delays are expected.
Extended: Ogden Road is reduced to one lane in each direction at 34 Avenue S.E. until Wednesday, May 14 due to utility work. Delays are expected. Motorists are advised to use alternate routes like Blackfoot Trail.
Southwest
There are various lane closures on 14 Street S.W. between 6 Avenue and 17 Avenue S.W. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily on weekdays, and 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekends. Work will be ongoing until mid-summer.
14 Street S.W. will be closed at 29 Avenue S.W. from 8 a.m. on Monday, May 12 until Wednesday, May 21 for utility work.
There will be various lane closures on 14 Street S.W. between Heritage Drive and Anderson Road from Monday, May 12 until August for operational improvements. More information is available on the website.
Two left lanes on 4 Avenue S.W. will be closed between 3 Street S.W. and 5 Street S.W. during peak hours. During off-peak hours (9 a.m. to 3 p.m.) three left lanes will be closed. The first phase of this project is expected to last until the end of May.
2 Avenue S.W. is closed between 2 Street and 3 Street S.W. until July 3 at 6 p.m.
The left lane and sidewalk are closed on 11 Avenue S.W. between 11 Street S.W. and 12 Street S.W. until Tuesday, September 30 due to building construction.
