Calgary road closures - June 12, 2015

Emergency (unplanned) work

NEW: Centre Street N at 15 Avenue N.W. is reduced to a single lane in each direction beginning at 7 a.m. on Saturday, June 13. This closure continues until 7 p.m. on Sunday, June 14 and accommodates emergency water main repair.

NEW: 14 Street N.W. at Kensington Road N.W. will be reduced to one lane in each direction from 6 a.m. Saturday, June 13 until 8 p.m. Sunday, June 14 for emergency water main repair.

Northeast

Various lane closures on 32 Avenue N.E. between 32 Street N.E. and 36 Street N.E. between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. daily beginning Wednesday, June 10. These closures will continue until Saturday, June 13 at 7 p.m. and accommodate curb repair.

Northbound right lane of 11 Street N.E. at 64 Avenue N.E. is closed daily between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. beginning Thursday, June 11. This closure continues during these hours until Thursday, June 18. The closure is extended to 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. on the weekend, but resumes normal hours during the weekdays. This closure accommodates curb rehabilitation.

2 Street N.E. between 5 Avenue N.E. and 9 Avenue N.E. will have various lane closures beginning at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, April 29. These closures will continue until Monday, June 22 and accommodate utility upgrade work.

Northwest

NEW: Eastbound Crowchild Trail will have a single left lane closure at 32 Avenue N.W. between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 13. This closure accommodates LRT work.

NEW: Westbound Kensington Road N.W. is closed at 10 Street N.W. between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 13. This closure accommodates construction.

NEW: Northbound 14 Street N.W. ramp to 14 Ave N.W. will be closed from 7 p.m. Friday, June 12 until 4 a.m. Monday, June 15 for LRT track repair.

Shaganappi Trail N.W. between Crowchild Trail N.W. and Northland Drive / Dalhousie Drive N.W. will be closed between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. the following morning on Friday, June 12. This closure will accommodate work on the Shaganappi pedestrian overpass.

Trans Canada Highway / Bowfort Road N.W. Interchange Project

The right lane of southbound 10 Street N.W. at 2 Avenue N.W. is closed until the end of June. This closure accommodates construction.

Various lane closures at 10 Street N.W. and Kensington Road N.W. daily between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. These closures will continue until Saturday, June 20 and accommodate construction.

Country Hills Boulevard N.W. east of Rocky Ridge Road N.W. will be reduced to a single lane in each direction beginning at 9 a.m. on Monday, May 4. This construction project continues until the end of June.

Eastbound 16 Avenue N.W. will be reduced to one lane east of Sarcee Trail N.W. from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily on weekdays until the end of June due to utility work.

Southeast

NEW: The right lane of southbound 11 Street S.E. is closed north of 18 Avenue S.E. between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Saturday, June 13. This closure accommodates water utility work.

NEW: Heritage Drive S.E. / 15 Street S.E. will be closed east of Heritage Meadows Road S.E. / Glendeer Circle S.E. between 8 p.m. on Saturday, June 13 and 6 a.m. on Sunday, June 14. This closure accommodates paving. Traffic will be detoured, motorists are advised to use alternate routes.

NEW: Various lane closures on both directions of Macleod Trail S at 162 Avenue S.E. beginning at 9 p.m. on Sunday, June 14. This closure will continue until 5 a.m. the following morning, and repeats during these hours on Monday, June 15 and Tuesday, June 16. The closure accommodates construction.

NEW: Barlow Trail between 50 Avenue S.E. and 61 Avenue S.E. will be closed from 6 a.m. Saturday, June 13 until 8:00 p.m. Sunday, June 14 for paving and concrete work. Local traffic will be detoured to 52 Street S.E. via 50 Avenue S.E. and 61 Avenue S.E. to bypass the construction. Alternate routes are recommended as delays are expected.

 

NEW: The left lane will be closed on eastbound and westbound 58 Avenue S.E. east of Blackfoot Trail from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 13 to allow for preliminary work related to upcoming intersection upgrades.

 

NEW: 11 Street S.E. under Glenmore Trail will continue with various single lane closures from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily Monday, June 15 until Friday, June 19 to allow for work under bridge.

 

NEW: Southbound 1 Street S.E. between 9 Avenue S.E. and 25 Avenue S.E. will have various multiple lane closures from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, June 13 and Sunday, June 14 to do asphalt repairs and roadway milling in preparation for paving.

4 Street S.E. between 7 Avenue S.E. and 8 Avenue S.E. is closed beginning at 9 a.m. on Thursday, June 11. This closure continues until 6 p.m. on Sunday, June 14 and accommodates Enmax utility work.

Northbound and southbound Barlow Trail S.E. between 50 Avenue S.E. and 61 Avenue S.E. will have the speed limit reduced to 60 km/h beginning at 12 p.m. Friday, June 5 and continuing until mid-July, to allow for constructions crews to prepare and pave this section of roadway. There will be various stages of construction which will have lane closures during weekdays and full road closures on weekends.  Updates will be provided as work progresses.

The shoulder lanes of northbound and southbound Spiller Road S.E. south of 25 Avenue S.E. will be closed daily between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. beginning Friday, June 5. This closure continues daily during these hours until Friday, June 19 and accommodates construction.

Victoria Bridge rehabilitation project.

  • Work related to Victoria Bridge re-hab project continues. Alternate routes are recommended as major delays are expected. Macleod Trail S.E. has opened to the first stage Victoria Bridge detour with newly shifted lane marking alignments in the northbound lanes.   • The exit ramp allowing U-turns from southbound 1 Street S.E. to northbound Macleod Trail, north of 25 Avenue S.E. will be closed beginning at 5 a.m. on Tuesday, May 19 until late September.
  • In addition, the regional pathway link to the Macleod Trail bridge deck (Victoria Bridge) will also be closed. Pathway users will be directed to use the 1 Street S.E. link one block to the west.

Glenmore Trail Bridges Rehabilitation Project

  • The two left lanes of Westbound Glenmore Trail S.E. east of Macleod Trail S.E. at the Centre Street S / Fairmount Drive S.E. bridge and the L.R.T. bridge are closed between 9 p.m. on Thursday, June 11 and 5 a.m. Friday, June 12. This closure will also occur between 9 p.m. on Friday, June 12 until 5 a.m. on Saturday, June 13. This closure allows for work related to the Glenmore Trail Bridges projects. The speed limit on Glenmore Trail will remain at 50 km/h for the duration of construction.
     
  • The two left lanes of eastbound Glenmore Trail S.E. east of Macleod Trail S.E. at the Centre Street S / Fairmount Drive S.E. bridge and the L.R.T. bridge will be closed between 9 p.m. on Thursday, June 11 and 5 a.m. on Friday, June 12. This closure will also occur between 9 p.m. on Friday, June 12 until 5 a.m. on Saturday, June 13. This closure allows for work related to the Glenmore Trail Bridges projects. The speed limit on Glenmore Trail will remain at 50 km/h for the duration of construction.
     
  • Eastbound and westbound Glenmore Trail S.E. west of Deerfoot Trail S.E. at the bridge over 11 Street S.E., will have the speed limit reduced to 50 km/h starting at 8 p.m. on Friday, June 5, and continuing through the 2015 construction season, for work related to the Glenmore Bridges re-hab projects. There will be various stages of construction which will have traffic pattern changes on Glenmore Trail and numerous lane closures on both Glenmore Trail and 11 Street S.E. under Glenmore Trail.  For further information please go to Calgary.ca and search “Glenmore Trail Bridges”.
     
  • Three bridges on Glenmore Trail east of Macleod Trail and west of Deerfoot Trail, including Glenmore Trail over 11 Street S.E., Glenmore Trail over Fairmount Drive and Glenmore Trail over the CP/LRT tracks, will have various road closures and the speed limit reduced to 50 km/h beginning at 8 p.m. on Friday, May 29. This project will continue through the 2015 construction season, for work related to the Glenmore Bridges rehabilitation project.  During construction, there will be various stages which will require traffic pattern changes on Glenmore Trail and numerous lane closures on both Glenmore Trail and Centre Street S / Fairmount Drive S.E. under Glenmore Trail S.E.
     
  • Westbound Glenmore Trail east of Macleod Trail at the Centre Street/Fairmount Drive bridge and the L.R.T. bridge will have the two left lanes closed from 9 p.m. Saturday, June 13 until 5 a.m. Sunday, June 14 to allow for work related to the Glenmore Trail Bridges projects. The speed limit on Glenmore Trail will remain at 50 km/h for the duration of construction.
     
  • Eastbound Glenmore Trail east of Macleod Trail at the Centre Street/Fairmount Drive bridge and the L.R.T. bridge will have the two left lanes closed from 9 p.m. Saturday, June 13 until 5 a.m. Sunday, June 14 to allow for work related to the Glenmore Trail Bridges projects. The speed limit on Glenmore Trail will remain at 50 km/h for the duration of construction.
     
  • Eastbound and westbound Glenmore Trail between Barlow Trail and Odgen Road / Shepard Road will have various single lane closures and the speed limit reduced to 50 km/h from 6 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday, June 13 to allow for Enmax overhead utility work. Crews will be on site to stop traffic while the overhead lines are moved across roadway, with the Calgary Police Service on site to control the intersection of Glenmore Trail at Odgen Road / Shepard Road as required.
     
  • Eastbound Glenmore Trail between Barlow Trail and 30 Street S.E. will have single lane closures and the speed limit reduced to 50 km/h from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, June 14 to allow for Enmax overhead utility work. Crews will be on site to stop traffic as required, while the overhead lines are moved across roadway.

The two right lanes of 9 Avenue S.W. will be closed between 3 Street S.W. and 4 Street S.W. beginning at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, May 26. This closure will continue nightly between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. the following morning until further notice. This closure accommodates construction.

94 Avenue S.E. between 52 Street S.E. and 60 Street S.E. will be closed beginning at 7 a.m. on Monday, April 20. The closure will remain in place until 8.pm. on Friday, July 31 and accommodates new road construction.

4 Street S.E. is reduced to one lane in each direction between 9 Avenue S.E. and 8 Avenue S.E. until September 30. This closure is needed to facilitate the construction of the +60 pedestrian bridge at the National Music Centre.

Southwest

NEW: The left lane of southbound 14 Street S.W. at 24 Avenue S.W. is closed between 10 p.m. on Sunday, June 14 and 5 a.m. on Monday, June 15. This closure accommodates utility work.

NEW: The left lane of southbound 14 Street S.W. at 24 Avenue S.W. is closed between 10 p.m. on Monday, June 15 and 5 a.m. on Tuesday, June 16. This closure accommodates utility work.

NEW: The left lane and adjacent sidewalk of 4 Avenue S.W. is closed between 1 Street S.W. and 2 Street S.W. nightly between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. the following morning on both Monday, June 15 and Tuesday, June 16. This closure accommodates construction.

The three right lanes of 6 Avenue S.W. are closed between 8 Street S.W. and 9 Street S.W. beginning at 7 p.m. on Friday, June 12. This closure continues until 5 a.m. on Monday, June 15 and accommodates utility construction work.

Southbound 14 Street S.W. south of Anderson Road S.W. is closed beginning at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, June 10. A two-way traffic setup is in place in the northbound lanes. This closure continues until 6 p.m. on Saturday, June 20 and accommodates construciton.

1 Street S.W. is closed between 6 Avenue S.W. and 7 Avenue S.W. nightly between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. the following day, beginning Tuesday, June 9. This closure continues until 5 a.m. on Saturday, June 13 and accommodates utility work.

The right lane and adjacent sidewalk of southbound 1 Street S.W. between 4 Avenue S.W. and 5 Avenue S.W. will be closed daily between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. beginning Monday, June 8. This closure continues during these hours until Saturday, June 20 and accommodates construction.

The right lane of southbound 3 Street S.W. is closed at 7 Avenue S.W. daily between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. the following morning beginning Monday, June 8. This closure continues until 6 a.m. on Thursday, June 18.

The right lane of westbound 6 Avenue S.E. between 4 Street S.E. and 6 Street S.E. will be closed, and traffic will be diverted to the eastbound lane between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. daily beginning Monday, June 8. Eastbound traffic will also be closed during this time, and this closure continues daily until 3 p.m. on Sunday, June 21. Motorists are advised to use alternate routes and expect delays in the area. This closure accommodates construction.

The cycle track on 12 Avenue S.E. will be detoured between 3 Street S.E. and Olympic Way S.E. beginning at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 6. This closure will continue until further notice and accommodates construction.

Southbound 1 Street S.W. will be reduced to one lane between 9 Avenue S.W. and 10 Avenue S.W. starting Sunday, January 25 to accommodate the 1 Street S.W. underpass enhancement project. At the same time the sidewalk on southbound 1 Street S.W. will be closed. Pedestrians should use the sidewalk on the east side of 1 Street S.W. These closures will be in place until the work on the west side of the underpass is complete.

  • 10 Street S.E. will be closed between 9 Avenue S.E. and 10 Avenue S.E. from 1 p.m. on Friday, June 12 to 6 a.m. on Saturday, June 13.

  • 1 Avenue N.E. between Edmonton Trail N.E. and 4 Street N.E. is closed between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Sunday, June 14.
