Calgary road closures - July 7, 2014
Northeast
There will be various lane closures on 32 Street N.E. between 20 Avenue N.E. to 39 Avenue N.E. until the end of July due to road resurfacing.
41 Avenue N.E. will be reduced to one lane in each direction at Centre Street from 7 a.m. on Sunday, July 6 to 7 p.m. on Monday, July 7 due to utility work.
84 Street N.E. will be closed between McKnight Boulevard and 16 Avenue N.E. until further notice due to emergency water services work.
22 Avenue N.E. will be closed between Centre Street and 1 Street N.E. from 7 a.m. on Wednesday, July 2 to 8 p.m. on Monday, July 7 due to utility work.
17 Avenue N.E. and 18 Avenue N.E. are closed at Edmonton Trail until late August due to the Edmonton Trail road reconstruction project.
Northwest
Northbound Crowchild Trail will be reduced to one lane at University Drive N.W. from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. night from Friday, July 4 to Sunday, August 31 due to bridge deck repairs.
The left lane on southbound Nose Hill Drive N.W. will be closed at Silver Springs Boulevard N.W. from 9 a.m. on Monday, July 7 to 3 p.m. on Thursday, July 10 due to utility work. At the same time the left lane on westbound Silver Springs Boulevard N.W. will be closed at Nose Hill Drive N.W.
The right lanes on north and southbound Northland Drive N.W. will be closed starting Thursday, July 3 and will last throughout the summer due to bike lane improvements and road repaving.
Symons Valley Road is completely closed between 144 Avenue N.W. and Sage Meadow Circle. This closure is expected to last until December 2014. During this time, all heavy truck traffic will be detoured to Shaganappi Trail, and local traffic will be detoured via Sage Hill Drive to 144 Avenue N.W. Visit the webpage for further information.
Southeast
NEW: The right lane on northbound Macleod Trail will be closed between 12 Avenue S.E. and 15 Avenue S.E. from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly from Monday, July 7 to Thursday, July 10 and from 8 p.m. on Friday, July 11 to 5 a.m. on Monday, July 14 to accommodate a Stampede taxi zone.
There are various lane closures on 9 Avenue S.E. between 3 Street S.E. and 6 Street S.E. until the end of August. There are also various closures on 6 Street S.E. between 9 Avenue and 6 Avenue S.E. for East Village construction. This work will stop during Stampede (July 4-13).
Southwest
Eastbound Heritage Drive will be reduced to one lane between 14 Street S.W. and Elbow Drive from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily from Monday, July 7 to Friday, July 11 due to bike lane work.
Bow Trail is reduced to one eastbound lane and two westbound lanes between 37 Street S.W. and 45 Street S.W. until Friday, July 11 due to road construction and paving due to the Bow Trail Paving project. Traffic will be directed to the north side of Bow Trail as crews will be working in the south side lanes. Calgary Police Service will be on site at times to assist with traffic control. Motorists are advised to use alternate routes.
- Work is expected to start on southbound 14 Street S.W. between 10 Avenue S.W. and 17 Avenue S.W. resulting in lane closures beginning in mid-July.
Westbound Bow Trail will be reduced to one lane east of Crowchild Trail from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Saturday until mid-July for noise barrier construction.
5 Avenue S.W. will be reduced to two lanes between 5 Street S.W. and 6 Street S.W. from 9:30 a.m. until mid-July due to water main replacement.
5 Street S.W. will be reduced to three lanes between 5 Avenue S.W. and 6 Avenue S.W. from 9:30 a.m. until mid-July due to water main replacement.
There will be various lane closures on 14 Street S.W. between Heritage Drive and Anderson Road until August for operational improvements. More information is available on the website.
The left lane and sidewalk are closed on 11 Avenue S.W. between 11 Street S.W. and 12 Street S.W. until Tuesday, September 30 due to building construction.
