Calgary road closures - July 18, 2014
Northeast
5 Avenue N.E. will be closed between 30 Street N.E. and 33 Street N.E. from 7 p.m. on Friday, July 18 to 5 a.m. on Monday, July 21 due to utility work.
17 Avenue N.E. and 18 Avenue N.E. are closed at Edmonton Trail until late August due to the Edmonton Trail road reconstruction project.
Northwest
NEW: The right lane on northbound Crowchild Trail will be closed at Memorial Drive from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 19 due to retaining wall construction.
NEW: 16 Avenue N.W. will be reduced to one lane in each direction over Crowchild Trail from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily on Saturday, July 19 and Sunday, July 20 due to bridge rehabilitation work.
NEW: The left lane on northbound Crowchild Trail will be closed at Kensington Road from 8 a.m. to noon on Sunday, July 20 due to utility work.
There will be various lane closures at Shaganappi Trail and Northland Drive from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily from Friday, July 18 to Friday, July 25 and 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 19 due to bike lane improvements and road repaving.
Northbound Crowchild Trail will be reduced to one lane at University Drive N.W. from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. nightly until Sunday, August 31 due to bridge deck repairs.
The right lanes on north and southbound Northland Drive N.W. will be closed throughout the summer due to bike lane improvements and road repaving.
Symons Valley Road is completely closed between 144 Avenue N.W. and Sage Meadow Circle. This closure is expected to last until December 2014. During this time, all heavy truck traffic will be detoured to Shaganappi Trail, and local traffic will be detoured via Sage Hill Drive to 144 Avenue N.W. Visit the webpage for further information.
Southeast
NEW: The right lane on northbound Ogden Road at 34 Avenue S.E. will be closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, July 21 due to utility work.
NEW: There will be various lane closures on Glenmore Trail between 52 Street S.E. and 68 Street S.E. from 5 a.m. to 9 a.m. on Sunday, July 20 due to road work. At this time the speed limit will be reduced to 50 km/h
NEW: The exit ramp from westbound 114 Avenue S.E. to northbound 24 Street S.E. will be closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily starting Monday, July 21 until Friday, July 25 due to traffic signal work. Motorists are advised to watch for detours.
NEW: Blackfoot Trail will be reduced to two lanes in each direction at the bridge over Glenmore Trail from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily starting Monday, July 21 until Wednesday, July 23 due to the Blackfoot Trail Bridge rehabilitation project.
NEW: The right lane on westbound 9 Avenue S.E. will be closed between 3 Street S.E. and 4 Street S.E. until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 23 due to East Village development. At this time the sidewalk will be closed as well.
The right lane on northbound 52 Street S.E. will be closed at Peigan Trail starting at 8 a.m. on Saturday, July 19 for approximately 6 weeks due to work related to the Peigan Trail extension project. At this time the speed limit reduced to 50 km/h.
Westbound 130 Avenue S.E. will be closed between 52 Street S.E. and Copperpond Boulevard S.E. until Thursday, August 14 due to major utility work. The speed limit in the area will be reduced to 50 km/h. Residents are advised to use McIvor Boulevard S.E. to 52 Street S.E.
5 Street S.E. will be closed between 8 Avenue and 9 Avenue S.E. until August 17 for East Village construction.
Confluence Way S.E. will be closed between 6 Avenue and Riverfront Avenue until July 27 at 6 p.m.
There are various lane closures on 9 Avenue S.E. between 3 Street S.E. and 6 Street S.E. until the end of August. There are also various closures on 6 Street S.E. between 9 Avenue and 6 Avenue S.E. for East Village construction.
Southwest
NEW: The left lane on 9 Avenue S.W. over 14 Street S.W. will be closed from 7 a.m. on Saturday, July 19 to 6 a.m. on Monday, July 21 due to bridge work.
NEW: Eastbound 17 Avenue S.W. will be closed at Richmond Road from 6 a.m. to p.m. on Saturday, July 19 dye to road reconstruction. Two way traffic will be allowed in the westbound lanes.
NEW: Westbound Heritage Drive will be closed at Cross Crescent S.W. from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, July 19 due to utility work. Two way traffic will be allowed in the eastbound lanes.
NEW: There will be various lane closures on Bow Trail east of 37 Street S.W. from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily on Saturday, July 19 and Sunday, July 20 in preparation for paving. At this time speed will be reduced to 50 km/h. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes as delays are expected.
NEW: The left lane on westbound Glenmore Trail will be closed at 37 Street S.W. from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily on Monday, July 21 and Tuesday, July 22 due to maintenance.
13 Avenue S.W. will be closed between 9 Street S.W. and 10 Street S.W. from 8 a.m. on Friday, July 18 to Friday, July 25 due to utility work.
Westbound 17 Avenue S.W. will be closed at 27 Street S.W. from 7 p.m. on Friday, July 18 to 5 a.m. on Monday, July 21 due to utility work. Two way traffic will be allowed in the eastbound lanes.
Bow Trail will be reduced to one eastbound and two westbound lanes at 45 Street S.W. from 4 a.m. on Friday, July 18 to 8 p.m. on Monday, July 21 due to construction and paving. Traffic will be directed to the north side of Bow Trail as crews will be working in the eastbound lanes. At the same time 45 Street S.W. will be closed south of Bow Trail with traffic directed to use 37 Street S.W. Motorists are advised to use alternate routes as delays are expected. Speed will be reduced to 50 km/h.
33 Avenue S.W. will be closed between 16 Street S.W. and 17 Street S.W. from 6 p.m. on Friday, July 18 to 5 a.m. on Saturday, July 19 due to utility work.
6 Avenue S.W. will be closed between 5 Street S.W. and 6 Street S.W. from 6 p.m. on Friday, July 18 to 5 a.m. on Monday, July 21 due to utility work. Motorists will be detoured to 4 Avenue S.W. and 8 Avenue S.W.
- Southbound 14 Street S.W. will be closed between 10 Avenue S.W. and 17 Avenue S.W. from 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 17 to Sunday, September 7 due to road resurfacing. Two way traffic will be allowed in the northbound lanes at this time.
Westbound Bow Trail will be reduced to one lane east of Crowchild Trail from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Saturday until mid-July for noise barrier construction.
There will be various lane closures on 14 Street S.W. between Heritage Drive and Anderson Road until August for operational improvements. More information is available on the website.
The left lane and sidewalk are closed on 11 Avenue S.W. between 11 Street S.W. and 12 Street S.W. until Tuesday, September 30 due to building construction.
