Calgary road closures - April 4, 2014

Northeast

NEW: Eastbound Memorial Drive will be reduced to one lane at Barlow Trail S.E. for LRT construction from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily on Saturday, April 5 and Sunday, April 6.

The right lane on northbound 56 Street N.E. will be closed at 28 Avenue N.E. from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily until Wednesday, April 16 due to utility work.

Northwest

NEW: 5 Avenue N.W. will be closed between 9A Street N.W. and 7 Street N.W. from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, April 7 due to building construction.

 

Memorial Drive will be reduced to one lane in each direction between Crowchild Trail and 16 Street N.W. until Thursday, May 15 due to riverbank restoration. On weekdays lane restrictions will be in effect daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and on weekends daily from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Southeast

NEW: The left lane will be closed and the speed limit reduced to 60 km/h on westbound Glenmore Trail east of Blackfoot Trail from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, April 6 to allow for crews to do road survey work.

NEW:  The left lane on Northbound Blackfoot Trail will be closed north of Ogden Road on Sunday April 6 from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. for waste water removal. The speed will be reduced to 50 km/h during this time.

Southbound Barlow Trail will be reduced to one lane at 50 Avenue S.E. from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Sunday, April 6 due to utility work

There will be various lane closures on 2 Street S.E. between 51 Avenue S.E. and 53 Avenue S.E until Sunday, April 6 due to utility work.  Traffic will be detoured to 3 Street S.E. to bypass the construction. Local business access will be maintained.

The speed on Blackfoot Trail will be reduced to 60 km/h at 53 Avenue S.E. until mid-April due to construction. In addition, there will be continued stages of construction along 53 Avenue S.E. between Blackfoot Trail and 2 Street S.E until mid-April due to utility work.

Southwest
NEW: The left lane on 5 Avenue S.W. will be closed between 1 Street S.W. and 2 Street S.W. from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 5 due to construction

NEW: 2 Avenue S.W. will be closed between 2 Street and 3 Street S.W. from Sunday, April 6 at 6 p.m. until July 3 at 6 p.m.

2 Street S.W. will be reduced to two lanes at 9 Avenue S.W. from 6 p.m. on Friday, April 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, April 6 due to utility work.

9 Avenue S.W. will be reduced to two lanes at 2 Street S.W. from 6 p.m. on Friday, April 4 to 6 p.m. on Saturday April 5 due to utility work.

9 Avenue S.W. will be reduced to one lane at 2 Street S.W. from 8 p.m. on Saturday, April 5 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, April 6 due to utility work.

26 Avenue S.W. will be closed between 17A Street S.W. and 17 Street S.W. from 9 a.m. on Friday, April 4 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, April 6 due to construction.

The left lane and sidewalk are closed on 11 Avenue S.W. between 11 Street S.W. and 12 Street S.W. until Tuesday, September 30 due to building construction.

11 Street S.W. will be closed between 13 Avenue and 14 Avenue S.W. starting at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, April 2 due to emergency utility work until 3 p.m. on Friday, April 4.

The right lane on 5 Avenue S.W. will be closed between Centre Street and 1 Street S.W. from until Wednesday, April 30. During morning and evening peak hours this lane will be used for pedestrians while work is being done on the sidewalk.

Special Events:

Mount Royal University Sprint Triathlon

  • The right lane on 33 Avenue S.W. will be closed between Sarcee Road and Crowchild Trail from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 6.
  • The right lane on southbound Crowchild Trail will be closed between 33 Avenue S.W. and Mount Royal Gate from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 6.
  • Motorists are advised to watch for cyclists on Sarcee Road between Richardson Way and 33 Avenue S.W.
  • Calgary Police will be on site.

Glencoe Club Ice Breaker 10 km Road Race
The right lane of Elbow Drive between 32 Avenue S.W. and 4 street S.W., will be closed, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Sunday, April 6.
