Calgary road closures - April 24, 2015

ALERT: The lower deck of the Centre Street Bridge will be closed on Sunday, April 26 between 7 a.m. and 11 a.m. for bridge maintenance. Motorists are advised to use alternate routes.

ALERT: Various closures on Deerfoot Trail during evenings beginning Sunday, April 26. These closures will allow the province to perform street sweeping on Deerfoot Trail. Traffic will be detoured, use alternate routes and expect delays. For more information, see Provincial Closures below.

Northeast

NEW: Skyview Ranch Drive N.E. will be reduced to single lanes of alternating traffic between Skyview Ranch Manor N.E. and Skyview Ranch Crescent N.E. beginning at 7 a.m. on Monday, April 27. This closure continues until 4 p.m. on Wednesday, April 29 and accommodates utility work.

NEW: Bridge Crescent N.E. will be closed at 6A Street N.E. between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Monday, April 27. Traffic will be detoured through the area. This closure accommodates utility repair.

NEW: The centre lanes of Edmonton Trail N.E. between 4 Avenue N.E. and 5 Avenue N.E. will be closed between 8 p.m. on Monday, April 27 and 5 a.m. on Tuesday, April 28. This closure accommodates construction.

NEW: Barlow Trail N.E. at Centre Avenue N.E. will have various closures between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Sunday, April 26. The left hand turn bay of northbound Barlow Trail N.E. at Centre Avenue N.E., and the Right hand turn lane on southbound Barlow Trail N.E. at Centre Avenue N.E. will be closed during this time. This closure accommodates utility work.

NEW: The two right lanes of eastbound 16 Avenue N.E. at 19 Street N.E. will be closed daily between 9 p.m. and 3 p.m. the following day beginning Monday, April 27 at 9 p.m. This closure will continue until 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 2 and accommodates construction.

Regal Crescent N.E. will be closed between 6 Street N.E. and 7 Street N.E. beginning at 6 a.m. on Friday, April 24. This closure will remain in place until 5 a.m. on Monday, April 27 and accommodates construction.

Centre Street N at 40 Avenue N.E. is reduced to a single lane in all directions beginning at 10 p.m. on Wednesday, April 22. This closure will continue until 5 a.m. on Friday, April 24 and accommodates utility work.

The right lane of each direction of Airport Trail N.E. between Barlow Trail N.E. and 36 Street N.E. (in tunnel) will be closed daily between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. beginning on Thursday, April 23. This closure will continue daily during these hours until Tuesday, May 5 and accommodates utility work.

Northwest

NEW: Shaganappi Trail N.W. between Crowchild Trail N.W. and Northland Drive / Dalhousie Drive N.W. will be closed between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. beginning Friday, April 24. This closure will also occur during these hours on Saturday, April 25 and until Sunday, April 26 until 5 a.m. It will accommodate the work on the Shaganappi pedestrian overpass.

Brisebois Drive N.W. at Crawfort Road N.W. is closed beginning at 9 a.m. on Friday, April 24. This closure will remain in place until 8 p.m. on Sunday, April 26 and accommodates utility work.

Northbound 10 Street N.W. at Kensington Road N.W. will be reduced to a single lane beginning at 9 p.m. on Wednesday, April 22. This closure will remain in place until 5 a.m. on Thursday, April 23 and accommodates construction.

Southbound 9 Street S.W. between 4 Avenue S.W. and 6 Avenue S.W. will be reduced to a single lane beginning at 9 p.m. on Wednesday, April 22. This closure will remain in place until 5 a.m. on Thursday, April 23 and accommodates construction.

Southbound 10 Street N.W. at 2 Avenue N.W. is reduced to a single left lane. This closure remains in place until the end of April and accommodates new development construction.

Eastbound 16 Avenue N.W. will be reduced to one lane east of Sarcee Trail N.W. from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily on weekdays until the end of April due to utility work.

Southeast

NEW: The centre lanes of 52 Street S.E. south of 8 Avenue S.E. will be closed between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Monday, April 27. This closure accommodates utility work.

NEW: Various lane closures on Barlow Trail S.E. at 106 Street S.E. between 7 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 25. Speed will be reduced to 50 km/hr. as these closures accommodate traffic signal work.

NEW: 12 Avenue S.E. at 4 Street S.E. is reduced to left two lanes between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 25. This closure accommodates construction.

NEW: 12 Avenue S.E. at 4 Street S.E. is reduced to left two lanes between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. daily beginning on Monday, April 27. This closure will continue during these hours daily through Wednesday, April 29 and oaccommodates construction.

The right lane of northbound Ogden Road S.E. north of Bonnybrook Road S.E. will be closed beginning at 9 a.m. on Friday, April 24. This closure will remain in place until 6 p.m. on Sunday, April 26 and accommodates water service utility work.

11 Street S.W. between 9 Avenue S.W. and 10 Avenue S.W. will be completely closed beginning at 6 p.m. on Friday, April 24. This closure will remain in place until 5 a.m. on Monday, April 27 and accommodates Canadian Pacific Rail work.

51 Street S.E. between 77 Avenue S.E. and 80 Avenue S.E. is closed beginning at 5 p.m. on Thursday, April 23. This closure will remain in place until 8 p.m. on Sunday, April 26 and accommodates construction.

The right lane of northbound Barlow Trail S.E. south of 106 Avenue S.E. is closed and speed is reduced to 50 km/hr. between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Thursday, April 23. This closure accommodates traffic signal work.

8 Avenue S.E. is closed at 5 Street S.E. beginning at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, April 22. This closure will remain in place until 5 p.m. on Thursday, May 7 and will accommodate road construction.

9 Avenue S.E. between 3 Street S.E. and 4 Street S.E. will be reduced to single-lane traffic in each direction between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Tuesday, April 21. This closure will remain in place during these hours until Thursday, April 23 and accommodates utility work.

94 Avenue S.E. between 52 Street S.E. and 60 Street S.E. will be closed beginning at 7 a.m. on Monday, April 20. The closure will remain in place until 8.pm. on Friday, July 31 and accommodates new road construction.

Westbound lane closures resume across the Graves Bridge on Glenmore Trail S.E. over the Bow River, west of 18 Street S.E. beginning at 9 a.m. on Monday, March 30. A single westbound left lane closure and 60 km/hr speed reduction will be in place 24/7 and multiple westbound lane closures will occur during evenings and weekends. Eastbound lane closures will no longer be required. This work will continue throughout the month of April and accommodates water services utility work.

4 Street S.E. is reduced to one lane in each direction between 9 Avenue S.E. and 8 Avenue S.E. until September 30. This closure is needed to facilitate the construction of the +60 pedestrian bridge at the National Music Centre.

Southwest

NEW: 11 Avenue S.W. between 1 Street S.W. and 2 Street S.W. will be reduced to a single left lane between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 25. In addition, the north sidewalk along this stretch will also be closed. This closure accommodates construction.

NEW: 2 Street S.W. between 18 Avenue S.W. and 19 Avenue S.W. is closed beginning at 9 a.m. on Friday, April 24. This closure will remain in place until 5 a.m. on Monday, April 27 and accommodates utility instruction.

NEW: 42 Avenue S.W. between 1A Street S.W. and Stanley Road S.W. will be closed beginning at 9 a.m. on Monday, April 27. This closure remains in place until 6 p.m. on Friday, May 1 and accommodates underground utility installation.

NEW: 33 Avenue S.W. between 17 Street S.W. and 18 Street S.W. is closed beginning at 7 a.m. on Saturday, April 25. This closure remains in place until 12 p.m. on Sunday, April 26 and accommodates utility installation.

6 Avenue S.W. between 1 Street S.W. and 2 Street S.W. is reduced to two right lanes of traffic beginning at 6 p.m. on Friday, April 24. This closure remains in place until 6 a.m. on Monday, April 27 and accommodates construction.

Alternating closures on 11 Street S.W. at 8 Avenue S.W. between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. beginning Friday, April 17. Alternating closures will continue on weekdays during these hours until Friday, May 8 and accommodate utility work.

Southbound 12 Street S.W. between 15 Avenue S.W. and 16 Avenue S.W. is completely closed to traffic beginning at 7 a.m. on Thursday, April 16. This closure will remain in place until 9 p.m. on Sunday, May 8 and accommodates Enmax utility work.

Southbound 1 Street S.W. will be reduced to one lane between 9 Avenue S.W. and 10 Avenue S.W. starting Sunday, January 25 to accommodate the 1 Street S.W. underpass enhancement project. At the same time the sidewalk on southbound 1 Street S.W. will be closed. Pedestrians should use the sidewalk on the east side of 1 Street S.W. These closures will be in place until the work on the west side of the underpass is complete.

Provincial Closures

The following closures allow provincial crews to perform street sweeping on Deerfoot Trail between 9 p.m. on Monday, April 27 and 5 a.m. on Tuesday, April 28:

• Northbound Deerfoot Trail closed between Southland Drive S.E. and Peigan / Barlow Trail S.E. All Deerfoot traffic will be detoured to allow provincial crews to complete this work.

The following closures allow provincial crews to perform street sweeping on Deerfoot Trail between 9 p.m. on Tuesday, April 28 and 5 a.m. on Wednesday, April 29:

• Northbound Deerfoot Trail closed between Southland Drive S.E. and 17 Avenue S.E. All Deerfoot traffic will be detoured to allow provincial crews to complete this work.

Special Events

King’s Own Calgary Regiment – St. George’s Day Parade – Saturday, April 26, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Update: Due to a conflict with CP Rail work, the parade will no longer be crossing 11 Street S.W. They will be detouring around 8 Avenue S.W. and 8 Street S.W. to 14 Avenue S.W.

• Watch for military personnel being escorted by police on Southbound 11 Street S.W., between 8 Avenue S.W. and 15 Avenue S.W. from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
• There will be no parking on the south side of 14 Avenue S.W. from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Police Half Marathon and 5K Walk and Run – Sunday, April 26, 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

• The exit ramp from northbound Crowchild Trail to Mount Royal Gate (50 Avenue S.W.) will be closed between 8 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.
• Mount Royal Gate (50 Avenue S.W.) will be reduced to one lane in each direction between Richard Road S.W. and 16 Street S.W.
• The south side parking lane of 66 Avenue S.W. between Crowchild Trail S.W. and 37 Street S.W. will be restricted for runners/walkers during these hours.
