Calgary road closures - Apr 30, 2015

Northeast

NEW: 12 Avenue N.E. is closed between Edmonton Trail N.E. and 4 Street N.E. beginning at 6 p.m. on Friday, May 1. This closure continues until 5 a.m. on Monday, May 4 and accommodates construction work.

NEW: Northbound 12 Street N.E. is closed between 36 Avenue N.E. and 38 Avenue N.E. beginning at 9 a.m. on Friday, May 1. A two-way traffic setup will be installed in the southbound lanes during this closure, which continues until 9 p.m. on Sunday, May 3. This closure accommodates water utility work.

NEW: 9 Street N.E. is closed between Memorial Drive N.E. and McPherson Road N.E. between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Friday, May 1. This closure accommodates crane demobilization.

The right lane of 1 Street N.E. at 8 Avenue N.E. will be closed beginning at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, April 29. This closure continues until 3 p.m. on Friday, May 1 and accommodates utility work.

2 Street N.E. between 5 Avenue N.E. and 9 Avenue N.E. will have various lane closures beginning at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, April 29. These closures will continue until further notice and accommodate utility upgrade work.

The two right lanes of eastbound 16 Avenue N.E. at 19 Street N.E. will be closed daily between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. the following day beginning Monday, April 27 at 9 p.m. This closure will continue until 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 2 and accommodates construction.

The right lane of each direction of Airport Trail N.E. between Barlow Trail N.E. and 36 Street N.E. (in tunnel) will be closed daily between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. beginning on Thursday, April 23. This closure will continue daily during these hours until Tuesday, May 5 and accommodates utility work.

Northwest

Southbound 10 Street N.W. at 2 Avenue N.W. is reduced to a single left lane. This closure remains in place until the end of May and accommodates new development construction.

Eastbound 16 Avenue N.W. will be reduced to one lane east of Sarcee Trail N.W. from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily on weekdays until the end of May due to utility work.

Southeast

NEW: The left lane of southbound Blackfoot Trail S.E. north of 42 Avenue S.E. will be closed between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Friday, May 1. This closure accommodates road work.

NEW: 18 Street S.E. will be closed between Quarry Park Road S.E. and 24 Street S.E. beginning at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 1. This closure will remain in place until 5 a.m. on Monday, May 4 and accommodates construction.

NEW: Northbound 11 Street S.E. will be closed and a two-way traffic setup will be installed in the south lanes at 23 Avenue S.E. beginning at 10 p.m. on Friday, May 1. This closure remains in place until 5 a.m. on Saturday, May 2 and accommodates water utility work.

NEW: 50 Avenue S.E. is closed between 1A Street S.E. and 2 Street S.E. beginning at 9 a.m. on Friday, May 1. This closure will remain in place until 6 p.m. on Sunday, May 3 and accommodates water utility work.

NEW: The right lane and adjacent sidewalk of westbound 9 Avenue S.E. at 4 Street S.E. is closed beginning at 9 a.m. on Thursday, April 30. This closure remains in place until 6 p.m. on Monday, May 25 and accommodates construction.

NEW: The two right lanes of northbound Macleod Trail S.E. north of 25 Avenue S.E. are closed beginning at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 1. This closure accommodates utility upgrades.

Update: The right lane of northbound Macleod Trail S.E. north of 25 Avenue S.E. is closed beginning at 9 a.m. on Thursday, April 30 until 7 p.m. on Friday, May 1. This closure continues until 8 p.m. on Sunday, May 3 and accommodates utility upgrades.

Various lane and sidewalk closures on 9 Avenue S.E. between 3 Street S.E. and 5 Street S.E. daily between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. beginning Wednesday, April 29. These closures will continue during these hours daily until Monday, May 25 and accommodate construction.

8 Avenue S.E. is closed at 5 Street S.E. beginning at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, April 22. This closure will remain in place until 5 p.m. on Thursday, May 7 and will accommodate road construction.

94 Avenue S.E. between 52 Street S.E. and 60 Street S.E. will be closed beginning at 7 a.m. on Monday, April 20. The closure will remain in place until 8.pm. on Friday, July 31 and accommodates new road construction.

Westbound lane closures resume across the Graves Bridge on Glenmore Trail S.E. over the Bow River, west of 18 Street S.E. beginning at 9 a.m. on Monday, March 30. A single westbound left lane closure and 60 km/hr speed reduction will be in place 24/7 and multiple westbound lane closures will occur during evenings and weekends. Eastbound lane closures will no longer be required. This work will continue throughout the month of April and accommodates water services utility work.

4 Street S.E. is reduced to one lane in each direction between 9 Avenue S.E. and 8 Avenue S.E. until September 30. This closure is needed to facilitate the construction of the +60 pedestrian bridge at the National Music Centre.

Southwest

NEW: 10 Avenue S.W. is closed between 8 Street S.W. and 9 Street S.W. beginning at 9 a.m. on Friday, May 1. This closure remains in place until 10 p.m. on Monday, May 4 and accommodates water utility work.

NEW: 12 Avenue S.W. between 32 Street S.W. and 33 Street S.W. will be closed beginning at 6 a.m. on Friday, May 1. This closure will continue until 6 p.m. on Friday, May 15 and accommodates sanitary line upgrades.

NEW: The right lane of southbound 5 Street S.W. will be closed at 12 Avenue S.W. between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Friday, May 1. The two right lanes of 12 Avenue S.W. at 5 Street S.W. will also be closed during this time. This closure will continue daily on Saturday, May 2 and Sunday, May 3 between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. and accommodates traffic signal work.

NEW: The left lanes of both northbound and southbound MacLeod Trail S.W. between 61 Avenue S.W. and Glenmore Trail S.W. will be closed beginning at 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 30. This closure remains in place until 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, May 3 and accommodates median repair.

Update: 42 Avenue S.W. between 1A Street S.W. and Stanley Road S.W. will be closed beginning at 9 a.m. on Monday, April 27. This closure remains in place until 6 p.m. on Wednesday, May 6 and accommodates underground utility installation.

26 Street S.W. is closed between 16 Avenue S.W. and 17 Avenue S.W. beginning at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, April 28. This closure will continue until 6 p.m. on Friday, May 1 and accommodates underground utility installation.

Alternating closures on 11 Street S.W. at 8 Avenue S.W. between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. beginning Friday, April 17. Alternating closures will continue on weekdays during these hours until Friday, May 8 and accommodate utility work.

Southbound 12 Street S.W. between 15 Avenue S.W. and 16 Avenue S.W. is completely closed to traffic beginning at 7 a.m. on Thursday, April 16. This closure will remain in place until 9 p.m. on Sunday, May 8 and accommodates Enmax utility work.

Southbound 1 Street S.W. will be reduced to one lane between 9 Avenue S.W. and 10 Avenue S.W. starting Sunday, January 25 to accommodate the 1 Street S.W. underpass enhancement project. At the same time the sidewalk on southbound 1 Street S.W. will be closed. Pedestrians should use the sidewalk on the east side of 1 Street S.W. These closures will be in place until the work on the west side of the underpass is complete.

Calgary Flames

17 Avenue S.W. may experience road closures between 2 Street S.E. and 14 Street S.W. contingent on pedestrian traffic swell following scheduled Calgary Flames’ games on Thursday, April 30 and Sunday, May 3. Detour signage will be in place and motorists are advised to expect delays in the area.

Special Events

Safe Cycling Street Fair – Saturday, May 2 – 6 a.m. until 5 p.m.

• 10 Avenue S.W. will be closed between 2 Street S.W. and 4 Street S.W. between 6 a.m. and 5 p.m. for this event.

Firefighter Stairs for Charity – Sunday, May 3 – 6 a.m. until 3 p.m.

• Parking along 5 Avenue S.E. between 1 Street S.E. and Centre Street S will be limited between 6 a.m. and 3 p.m. due to a charity event hosted by the Calgary Fire Department.
