Calgary Fire Department Responds to Two Alarm Fire in Rundle

At approximately 7:00 this evening, the Calgary Fire Department responded to a house fire in the 200 block of RundleView Drive N.E.  Fire crews were met with light grey smoke coming from the windows of the main level and thicker dark smoke from the second floor windows.  Firefighters initiated an aggressive interior attack to find fires on the lower, main and upper levels of the home.  A second alarm was called at that time to provide additional resources to the incident.  The interior fire attack teams extinguished the flames, while rescue teams conducted primary and secondary searches to ensure no one was in the house.   It was later reported that all occupants were out of the home prior to Calgary Fire Department crews arriving on scene.  The home was under renovation at the time of call and several small explosions were reported prior the arrival of fire crews.  No one was injured and the fire remains under investigation. One person was displaced as a result of the fire.  The Calgary Emergency Management Agency (CEMA) and the Red Cross will coordinate efforts to house the individual overnight. Local traffic on RundleView Drive N.E. was closed off during the duration of the incident.
