Calgary Fire Department responds to a van striking power pole
At approximately 6:19 pm Fire Crews were dispatch to report of a motor vehicle collision on 42nd Avenue near Highfield Road S.E. When crews arrived they found a Chevrolet full size van had stuck a power pole shearing off the pole with wires touching the van. The lone occupant of the vehicle was instructed to stay in the vehicle until Enmax could shut the power off. Fire crews secured the area and did traffic control until Enmax shut off the power. The driver of the van was uninjured however surrounding businesses were with out power. The Calgary Fire Department would like the public to know that if they come in contact with power line in a motor vehicle to stay in the vehicle and call 911, let emergency crews and the power company shut off the power before occupants leave the vehicle.
