Calgarians invited to Hike for Health

Calgary, AB – Calgarians are invited to combine physical fitness with nature exploration during four days of Hike for Health events. The 2nd annual Hike for Health is a partnership between The City of Calgary Parks and the Get to Know program to inspire connections between Calgarians and the outdoors.
“The City of Calgary Parks is encouraging Calgarians to journey to every quadrant of the city, exploring a different park each day,” said Kym McCulley, Parks Leader for Environmental and Education Initiatives. “It’s a chance to be active outdoors while reconnecting with nature and our city’s green spaces.”
Guided walks will be combined with interactive activities led by Parks staff. Activities will focus on Calgary’s biodiversity and its role in maintaining healthy ecosystems and sustainable natural areas.

“We hope Hike for Health will help develop a greater understanding about environmental and physical literacy and encourage Calgarians to get active in their local parks,” McCulley said.

Hike for Health events are taking place June 13 to 16. Guided walks begin on the half-hour and take approximately 20 minutes. Calgarians can also participate in interactive activities on location and take self-guided tours of the park.
