Acadia pool celebrates reopening

Acadia Aquatic and Fitness Centre will celebrate its reopening this Saturday, January 18, 2014, following a $283,000 upgrade that ensures the facility continues to be safe and healthy for all Calgarians to enjoy. The public is invited to join in the celebration with reduced admission fees, door prizes, free refreshments and program demonstrations.

The Centre was closed for one month from November 21 to December 21, 2013, to address ongoing maintenance and upgrades required to the aging facility, which is 52 years old. Renovations included updates to the lobby and front desk area, new pool lighting and bleachers, along with a new multi-purpose room floor.

“Acadia is a valued recreational resource and well used by our surrounding communities,” says Brenda Olson, superintendent with Recreation. “We’re excited to welcome our customers back and we look forward to celebrating our new and improved facility with them.”

The Acadia Aquatic and Fitness Centre is located at 9009 Fairmont Drive S.E. Between 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. this Saturday, admission will be $2 for all customers. Program demonstrations will be held in the multi-purpose room from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.

More information about the reopening can be found on our website.
