Calgary road closures and lane restrictions press release

Unplanned work

Due to an emergency water main break, Elbow Drive S.W. is reduced to a single lane in each direction between Sifton Boulevard and Riverdale Avenue S.W. This closure is expected to remain in place until 5 a.m. on Friday, April 14. Motorists are advised to use alternate routes when possible and expect delays in the area.

Northeast

NEW: Reduced lanes on northbound Harvest Hills Boulveard N.E. at Harvest Hills Gate N.E. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday, April 13 for construction.

Stonehill Drive N.E. is closed between Country Hills Boulevard N.E. and Stonehill Gate N.E. beginning at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, April 12. This closure remains in place until 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 13 and accommodates construction. Motorists are advised to use Barlow Trail N.E. as an alternate route.

Reduced lanes in both directions of Country Hills Boulevard N.E. between Barlow Trail and 25 Street N.E. beginning at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, April 11. This closure remains in place until 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 13 and accommodates utility work.

Reduced lanes at 19 Street N.E. and 39 Avenue N.E. daily from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. beginning on Monday, April 3. This closure repeats daily during these hours until 5:30 p.m. on Friday, April 14, excluding Sundays and accommodates utility replacement work.

Northwest

Reduced lanes on westbound 16 Avenue N.W. west of 14 Street N.W. daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. beginning on Monday, April 3. During this closure, the speed limit will be reduced to 50 km/hr. through the construction zone. This closure continues daily during these hours until 3 p.m. on Thursday, April 13 and accommodates construction.

Stoney Trail/ Sarcee Trail Interchange Improvements

  • Daily lane reductions on Sarcee Trail N.W. and 16 Avenue N.W. through the project limits from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. until further notice.
  • The right lane of westbound 16 Avenue N.W. is closed at Sarcee Trail N.W. daily from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. beginning on Thursday, March 2. This closure repeats daily on weekdays until late April 2017.

Southeast

There will be various single lane closures in both directions of 17 Avenue S.E. between 30 Street and 37 Street S.E. from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, April 11 for construction.

Mahogany Garden S.E. is closed east of Mahogany Boulevard S.E. beginning at 9 a.m. on Monday, April 10. This closure remains in place until 3 p.m. on Friday, April 14 and accommodates construction.

Eastbound 17 Avenue S.E. has reduced lanes east of 19 Street S.E. daily from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays through 3 p.m. on Tuesday, May 2 for construction work.

Glenmore Trail / Ogden Interchange

  • The Shepard Road access south of Glenmore is closed. There will be a new access created at 24 Street S.E. south of Glenmore Trail, west of the existing Shepard Road alignment. Traffic requiring to access Shepard Road south of Glenmore Trial will be detoured via the new 24 Street S.E. exit and then along 86 Avenue S.E. to reconnect with Shepard Road.

Macleod Trail / 162 Avenue construction project

  • ‎‎The exit ramp from southbound Macleod Trail to 162 Avenue S.E. / Sun Valley Boulevard will be closed from 10 p.m. Wednesday, April 12 until 5 a.m. Thursday, April 13 to allow for urgent utility work. Traffic will be directed to use either the Midlake Boulevard exit or the 22X (Spruce Meadows Trail) exit as a detour.
  • There will be various lane closures on southbound Macleod Trail between Shawnessy Boulevard / Midlake Boulevard and 162 Avenue S.E. / Sun Valley Boulevard from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily on Monday, April 10 until Friday, April 14.
  • There will be various lane closures on northbound Macleod Trail between 162 Avenue S.E. / Sun Valley Boulevard and Shawnessy Boulevard / Midlake Boulevard from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily on Monday, April 10 until Friday, April 14.
  • The right lane will be closed on northbound and southbound Shawville Boulevard at 162 Avenue S.E. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily Monday, April 10 until Friday, April 14.
  • The left lane of the dual turn from southbound Macleod Trail to eastbound Sun Valley Boulevard will be closed from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily on Tuesday, April 11 until Friday, April 14.

Southwest

NEW: 5 Street S.W. will have reduced lanes between 11 Avenue and 12 Avenue S.W. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday, April 13 for utility work. During this time, cycle track traffic will be diverted into the closed traffic lane.

The two right lanes of 6 Avenue S.W. are closed between 8 Street S.W. and 9 Street S.W. from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on weekdays beginning on Thursday, March 9. This closure continues daily on weekdays during these hours, and also on Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. This closure accommodates utility work and continues until further notice.

17 Avenue S. reconstruction project

  • Westbound 17 Avenue S.E. is reduced to a single lane at Macleod Trail S.E. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. beginning on Monday, April 10. This closure continues daily during these hours until 3 p.m. on Thursday, April 13.
