Update: State of Local Emergency

The City of Calgary remains in a state of local emergency due to significant flooding.

While river flows remain, City officials are urging Calgarians to stay off the rivers. Many of the banks are unstable and waterways are still full of dangerous debris.

The Community Support Centre in Roxboro, supporting the Parkhill and Stanley Park communities will be closing at 12 p.m. Tuesday, July 2. Residents in those communities who still require support are encouraged to visit one of the three remaining Community Support Centres which are now open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.:

Elbow Park Tennis Club – 800 34 Ave. SW

While many roads have reopened, The City expects higher volumes of traffic as businesses reopen. Calgarians are reminded to walk, bike, or utilize public transit if access to the downtown core is needed.

Calgary Transit has done tremendous work to ensure that service is available to Calgarians. As a result of these efforts there are only five remaining regular routes with detours. Please visit Calgary transit for a list of up to date transit information.

Route 201 will be running in both directions from Crowfoot Station to City Hall Station. Additionally, as work continues on the south LRT line, B201 Shuttles will be running from Heritage Station to Downtown with stops at City Hall Northbound and 1st Street W. Southbound (in front of the Bay).

Road closures that remain in place include:

Resurfacing work continuing on Macleod Trail – drive slow and expect delays
9 Avenue SE between Macleod Trail and 3 Street SE
4 Street SE underpass
The lower deck of Centre Street bridge - restricted to emergency vehicles only.

The 25 Avenue SE bridge is open but is currently restricted to vehicles under 25 tonnes.

Parking lot operators are working hard to make alternative arrangements for their monthly clients and to restore service in the lots that have closed. As there is a significant reduction in downtown parking capacity due to lot closures, check your parking lot operator’s website for the latest updates.

The City reminds all citizens to call 3-1-1 for flood-related calls, and to call 9-1-1 only in case of emergency.
