Update On Fatal Motorcycle Collision NE Calgary

At approximately 15:42hrs, on Thursday September 12th 2013, a fatal motorcycle collision occurred at the intersection of 50th Avenue and 47 Street NE.
A Harley Davidson motorcycle southbound on 47 Street NE was operated by a 38 year old male with a 26 year old female passenger on the back. At the same time a GMC SUV northbound on 47 Street NE, was being operated by a 36 year old female.
The operator of the SUV was making a left turn from northbound 47th Street, to westbound 50th Avenue.
The SUV turned left across the path of the southbound motorcycle. The motorcycle struck the front passenger corner of the SUV, and ejected both the rider and passenger. The SUV and motorcycle came to rest together in the intersection.
The rider of the motorcycle came to rest under the front of a Chevrolet SUV that was stopped, at a stop sign, waiting to proceed into the intersection.
The passenger was ejected landing in the roadway and sliding to a stop against the curb of the traffic island in the southwest corner of the intersection.
The rider was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The passenger received serious injuries and was transported from the scene by EMS to the Foothills Medical Centre, in a serious but stable condition.
The operators of both SUVs where uninjured in the collision.
Neither speed and or alcohol are believed to be factors in this collision.
