Update #2: No snow route parking ban

City crews have worked through the night to complete more than 80 per cent of bus routes, or Priority 2 Routes. This means, at this time The City will not need to call a Snow Route Parking Ban for this snowfall.

The City would like to thank Calgarians for voluntarily removing their cars from the roadways. Your help allowed crews to move through the bus routes and now begin to address residential areas.

Although Calgary received more than 20 centimetres of snow on Sunday, March 3, City crews were prepared well in advance for the snow and able to maintain the roadways as the snow fell.

This snow storm varied significantly from the storm that hit Calgary on January 11, where a Parking Ban was called. January’s snow storm maintained lower road surface and air temperatures, which preserved the snow on the roadways.

Moving into the day, crews will work through residential areas and begin planning snow removal for the downtown district. An update will be provided throughout the day on next steps.
