Update - soliciting for Children's Joy Foundation

The Calgary Police Service would like to thank the public and media for their assistance in providing information that led to the location of individuals associated with the Children’s Joy Foundation.

The investigation revealed that the charity is registered with the Canada Revenue Agency. It has been determined that they are collecting money for children in need in the Philippines and the six individuals are traveling across the country, volunteering for the foundation.

The Calgary Police Service reminds citizens to look for the following from charities who solicit door-to-door:

• Request the organization’s charitable number.
• Request the option of a tax receipt, prior to providing a donation.
• Representatives of the organization should be wearing visible ID.
• Request contact information for the organization including phone number and address
