Suspicious Incident

The Calgary Police Service continues to investigate a suspicious incident involving a child in the city’s southeast.

It was reported that just after 5 p.m. yesterday, Monday, Feb. 10, 2014, four nine-year-old girls were playing hide and seek around a convenience store in the 500 block of Queensland Drive. One girl was hiding behind the store when she was allegedly approached by a man who grabbed her wrist. The victim then screamed and pulled away, at which point she was able to run back to her friends.

The man is described as Caucasian, approximately 40 years old, 6’3” tall, with a bald head and a brown beard. He was wearing a black coat, black toque, sweat pants and black shoes.

The Calgary Police Service encourages parents to talk to their children about ways to protect themselves. This includes staying in busy, well-lit areas and if they are suspicious of someone, trust their instincts and flee the area, or scream to draw attention to themselves.
