Student Police Academy

Dedicated Grade 12 students from all across Alberta will get a first-hand look at policing during the annual Student Police Academy on Thursday, May 16, 2013, at Heritage Park.

Students will experience real-life scenarios dealing with domestic conflict situations, noisy parties and impaired drivers. They will learn about crime scenes, surveillance and crowd control under the guidance of an experienced officer.

Participants will be taught the importance of verbal communications, using conflict resolution and arbitration skills as an alternative to force. The Student Police Academy is open to select students from all over Alberta.

The Calgary Police Service’s School Resource Officer Program, who help to coordinate the program, seeks to develop a positive rapport with the youth and the school community. This event is made possible with contributions from Heritage Park, Calgary Co-op and Peter’s Drive In.
