Robbery arrest

The Calgary Police Service has arrested a man in relation to a series of five bank robberies.

Between Sept. 16, 2013 and Sept. 23, 2013, the suspect targeted a variety of different banks in the downtown core.

In each case the offender entered the bank, approached the teller and presented a note. The note indicated it was a robbery and threatened bodily harm if bank staff did not comply with the demand for money.

After being given an undisclosed amount of the money the offender left. There were no injuries in any of the robberies.

Following an investigation by the Robbery Unit, with the assistance of the Real Time Operations Centre, a possible suspect was identified and arrested by members of District 1.

Riley David QUIN, 33, from no fixed address, has been charged with five counts of bank robbery as well as one count of being disguised while committing an indictable offence.

His next court appearance is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013.
