Release of High Risk Offender

In the interest of public safety, the Calgary Police Service is issuing the following public information and warning in regards to the release of an inmate.

Danny Edward DEPEW has been released into the Calgary area having served an 18-month sentence for Breaches of an 810.1 Peace Bond. He is being monitored by the Calgary Police Service High Risk Offender Program on a Probation Order for a period of two years.

DEPEW was convicted of a number of offences in Alberta including sexual assault, sexual exploitation of a person with a disability, assault, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, break and enter and causing a disturbance.

The public is warned that DEPEW has a history of sexually assaulting female children.

DEPEW is 46 years old, 6’3” tall and weighs approximately 160 lbs. He has grey hair, blue eyes and a fair complexion.

The Calgary Police Service is issuing this information and warning after careful deliberation and consideration of all related issues, including privacy concerns, in the belief that it is clearly in the public interest to inform the members of the community of the release of Danny Edward DEPEW.

Members of the public are advised that the intent of the process is to enable members of the public to take suitable precautionary measures and not to embark on any form of vigilante action.
