Northwest CTrain Derailment - Update #1

Just before 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 20, a CTrain derailed just northwest of Tuscany Station.

The operator of the train was injured and has been transported to hospital. Two passengers travelling on the train were assessed by EMS and released.‎

The priority is ensuring the safety and security of staff and passengers. Emergency crews remain on scene trying to determine what caused the derailment.

Power to the line will need to be shut down for repairs, and shuttle service will begin shortly between Crowfoot and Tuscany stations. Delays to service can be expected.

While traffic is flowing in both directions on Crowchild Trail, there are major delays in the area. Motorists are encouraged to consider alternate options.

Calgary Transit will provide more information and updates as it becomes available throughout the day.
