Metal and truck theft

The Calgary Police Service is investigating a break-in that resulted in a vehicle and metal theft.

Sometime between 5 p.m., on Friday, March 22, 2013, and 8 a.m., on Saturday, March 23, 2013, the suspects gained access to an industrial yard in the 300 block of Exploration Ave. S.E., by forcing open the front gate.

The culprits entered the yard using stolen vehicles. They then stole a truck tractor and flat deck trailer from the yard, as well as approximately 400,000 pounds of rebar steel.

They left with the newly stolen LMS Reinforcing Steel Ltd. truck, trailer and steel.

The stolen steel is valued approximately at $148,000, and the truck tractor and trailer is valued at $80,000.

Investigators are releasing photos of the truck’s markings. While the company has many similar trucks, anyone who sees such a vehicle abandoned is asked to call police.
