Man Charged in Five Bank Robberies

The Calgary Police Service Robbery Unit has charged a man in relation to five Calgary bank robberies.

In each of the five robberies, a man entered the bank and produced a note indicating he had a weapon and it was a robbery. The robberies occurred at the following locations:

• Monday, Jan. 27, 2014, at approximately 9:45 a.m., at the CIBC located at 1230 9 Ave. S.E.
• Monday, Feb. 3, 2014, at approximately 10:55 a.m., at First Calgary Financial located at 6520 Falconridge Boulevard N.E.
• Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014, at approximately 11:50 a.m., at the Scotiabank located in the 2000 block of 33 Ave. S.W.
• Sunday, Feb. 9, 2014, at approximately 11:10 a.m., at the TD Canada Trust located at 10816 Macleod Trail S.
• Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014, at approximately 9:30 a.m., at the Calgary First Financial located at 4915 130 Ave. S.E.

No one was injured as a result of these robberies.

On Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014, at approximately 11:15 a.m., patrol officers spotted a black Ford F-350 they believed to be stolen. The truck came to a stop at a store in the 6500 block of Macleod Trail S.E. The driver was taken into custody without incident when he exited the vehicle.

The man’s description matched that of a suspect in a number of recent robberies and the Robbery Unit was contacted to continue on the investigation.

Following the investigation, Brandan NEUMAN, 29, of Calgary, has been charged with five counts of robbery, one count each of being disguised during the commission of an offence, possession of stolen property over $5,000 and carrying a concealed weapon.

NEUMAN will next appear in court on Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2014.
