Man Charged in Connection with Northwest Incident

The Calgary Police Service has charged a man following an incident that ended with an officer-involved shooting.

 

At approximately 3:40 p.m., on Tuesday, May 14, 2013, police were alerted to a suspicious vehicle in the 100 block of Crowfoot Way N.W.

 

At some point during the interaction with the occupants of the vehicle, the driver attempted to flee and mounted the nearby curb. The vehicle drove along the sidewalk and struck two elderly pedestrians. One of the victims, a female in her 70s, suffered serious injuries, while the other, a man also in his 70s, suffered minor injuries.

 

The driver of the vehicle was challenged by uniformed members, and a Service firearm was discharged. The man was taken to hospital with serious injuries and has since been released.

 

Today, Tuesday, May 28, 2013, police arrested Jason Trevor HARRON, 37, in connection with this incident.

 

HARRON is charged with two counts of hit and run causing bodily harm, two counts of criminal negligence causing bodily harm, two counts of flight from police causing bodily harm and two counts of dangerous driving causing bodily harm.

 

As this is now an Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) investigation and the matter is before the courts, no further details are available.

 

HARRON is next scheduled to appear in court on Friday, May 31, 2013.
