Indecent acts

The Calgary Police Service is seeking public assistance as they investigate several indecent acts that have been reported in southwest Calgary.

Since June 10, 2013, there have been five reported incidents at or near the green space between the Glenmore Landing area and the South Glenmore Sail Club, on the lower and upper bike paths.

In each case, a woman using the path has seen a man masturbating near the pathway, often behind bushes. Each incident has taken place between mid-afternoon and early evening.

The latest incident occurred on Thursday, July 25, 2013. At approximately 7 p.m., a woman was walking on a path when she observed a man concealed within some bushes. He was partially clothed and masturbating. The woman continued to walk along the path, and observed the man fleeing the area.

Four similar incidents occurred on the following days:

Monday, June 10, 7:15 p.m.

Friday, June 14, 7 p.m.

Thursday, June 27, 2:45 p.m.

Monday, July 22, 5:30 p.m.

In all cases, the suspect did not approach the women.

Investigators believe these incidents may all be related.

The suspect is described as being 30 to 40 years old, with a dark skin tone, clean-shaven with dark hair, possibly of Middle Eastern descent.

Anyone who witnesses an indecent act should call 911 immediately.

Calgarians are reminded to be aware of their surroundings. Avoid isolated areas, particularly if out alone. Carry a cell phone at all times if possible.
