Homicide – man charged and identification released

A man has been charged in relation to a domestic homicide that occurred on the weekend.

At approximately 1:20 p.m., on Monday, Oct. 14, 2013, police responded to a check on welfare call to a home in the 0-100 block of Ranchridge Drive N.W. Officers entered the home and discovered a deceased female.

A male was arrested at the home without incident.

An autopsy has now been completed and confirmed the deceased died as a result of a gunshot wound. The deceased, 58-year-old Lois Aileen MURRAY, is the mother of the accused.

Andrew Douglas MURRAY, 29, of Calgary, has been charged with first degree murder.

This is the 18^th homicide recorded in Calgary in 2013.
