Graffiti Charges

The Joint Graffiti Investigative Team (JGIT) has charged a youth in relation to multiple incidents of vandalism.

The charges are the result of an investigation into graffiti vandalism in the southeast, southwest and downtown areas of Calgary, between January and September 2013.

The investigation was related to approximately $7,000 worth of damage to residences, businesses and public property.

A 17-year-old male has been charged with 43 counts of mischief under $5,000. He was released on a promise to appear.

He cannot be named under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

The Joint Graffiti Investigative Team is a multi-agency group of officers from the Calgary Police Service, The City of Calgary Animal & Bylaw Services and Calgary Transit Public Safety & Enforcement, that focuses on investigating graffiti vandalism and graffiti offenders in Calgary.
