Clandestine Drug Manufacturing Lab

An investigation by the District 4 Operations Team has led to the discovery of a suspected clandestine drug manufacturing lab.

At approximately 11 a.m., on Thursday, Oct. 15, 2015, a warrant was executed in the 100 block of New Brighton Circle S.E., where chemicals and a pill press were located in a front attached garage. The residence was evacuated and the ALERT Green Team and the RCMP Clandestine Lab Enforcement and Response (CLEAR) Team have been called in to search and investigate. This investigation may take a number of days.

There is no immediate public safety risk to homes in the surrounding area.

It will take a number of weeks for the official Health Canada laboratory analysis to take place to confirm which substances were being manufactured. A joint investigation between the Calgary Police Service, the RCMP and ALERT will continue.

One person has been taken into custody. Charges with regards to the chemicals in the garage have not yet been laid.

Further information will be provided as it becomes available.
