Regular maintenance and upgrading is an important part of improving the safety and extending the life-cycle of our roadways. When more extensive repair methods are required, pavement rehabilitation is carried out through pavement rehabilitation or the Surface Overlay Paving program.
The Surface Overlay Paving program includes several important steps, such as sidewalk repair, milling, adjusting manholes, oiling, paving and line painting. For a detailed description of the program please visit Calgary.ca and type “Surface Overlay Paving” into the search bar.
Paving is prioritized based on specific guidelines for road conditions. Roads that experience high traffic volumes need proactive rehabilitation to maintain the safety of the road as well as increase its service life. Performing preventative construction can avoid hazards like potholes, cracks and frost heaves and lessen the need for continuous maintenance.
The City of Calgary would like to thank motorists for their patience during construction. Please drive with caution in construction zones and adhere to the speed limit and traffic controls. To view the full paving schedule, please visit calgary.ca for details.
