City crews to complete Ogden Road S.E. paving over the next two weekends

City crews will be completing pavement rehabilitation along Ogden Road S.E. from 69 Avenue S.E. to Blackfoot Trail S.E. on the weekends of July 27 and August 3, 2013. Work will continue during non-rush hour times (between 6 a.m. and 9 p.m.).

 

Due to paving along this road, crews will be closing Ogden Road from Millican Road S.E. to 69 Avenue S.E. on Saturday, July 27 from 6 a.m. to 12 p.m. In an effort to continue to provide access for drivers on Ogden Road, the northbound lanes will be restricted and two-way traffic will be accommodated in the southbound lanes. This pattern will reverse during the weekend of August 3, 2013.

 

Additional temporary lane restrictions and road closures may be needed during construction. Access to businesses and communities will be maintained throughout construction. Transit routes along this road will maintain their regularly scheduled service during construction.

Regular maintenance and upgrading is an important part of improving the safety and extending the life-cycle of our roadways. When more extensive repair methods are required, pavement rehabilitation is carried out through pavement rehabilitation or the Surface Overlay Paving program.

Paving is prioritized based on specific guidelines for road conditions. Roads that experience high traffic volumes need proactive rehabilitation to maintain the safety of the road as well as increase its service life. Performing preventative construction can avoid hazards like potholes, cracks and frost heaves and lessen the need for continuous maintenance.
