Charges laid in shooting facility break-in

The Calgary Police Service has laid charges in relation to a break-in and weapons theft that occurred last October.

 

At approximately 3:35 a.m., on Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012, police were called to reports of a break and enter at the Calgary Shooting Centre in the 7100 block of Fisher Road S.E.

 

Culprits had gained entry to the building by smashing a window and forcing the metal security bars.

 

Once inside, they smashed several display cases and removed 37 handguns. At this time, police have recovered seven of the firearms.

 

A thorough investigation has led to charges against three people.

 

On Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012, Craig Albert RODRIGUES, 42, of Calgary, was arrested and charged with one count each of possession of a firearm obtained in the commission of an offence, unsafe storage of a firearm and possession of a firearm contrary to a court order.

 

On Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, while still in custody from the previous charges, RODRIGUES was further charged with break and enter to steal firearms, firearms trafficking, possession of a firearm for the purpose of trafficking, possession of stolen property over $5,000 and unauthorized possession of a firearm.

 

On Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012, while in custody on unrelated matters, Christopher John MILLER, 36, was charged with six offences related to this investigation. Two additional charges have since been laid.

 

In total, MILLER was charged with one count each of break and enter to steal firearms, firearms trafficking, possession of firearms for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a firearm contrary to a court order, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm obtained in the commission of an offence, unsafe storage of a firearm and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000. 

 

Police are searching for one more man in relation to this case.

 

Cole Emery TRAHAN, 27, of Calgary, is currently wanted on Alberta-wide warrants in relation to this investigation.

 

TRAHAN is wanted for one count each of break and enter to steal firearms, firearms trafficking, possession of firearms for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a firearm contrary to a court order, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm obtained in the commission of an offence and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

 

TRAHAN is described as Caucasian, 5’8” tall, 160 lbs., with blue eyes and brown hair. He often has a “faux hawk” hairstyle.
