Centre Street lane restrictions during Monday morning commute

Two emergency utility repairs that occured over the weekend requiring lane closures on Centre Street North are expected to last through the Monday morning commute.

Centre Street N. between 10 Avenue and 11 Avenue

Currently, Centre Street North is reduced to one lane in each direction between 10 Avenue and 11 Avenue due to an emergency sanitary line repair.

To accommodate commuter traffic into the downtown core northbound Centre Street will be closed to allow two open southbound lanes between 6:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. on Monday, April 20. After 8:30 a.m. northbound Centre Street will be reopened to allow one lane of traffic in each direction. The road is expected to fully reopen by 3 p.m. on Monday.

Additionally, Centre Street North is reduced to one lane in each direction between 38 Avenue and 41 Avenue due to a water main break. 40 Avenue N.E. is also closed east of Centre Street to accommodate repairs.

To ease congestion during the morning commutes on Monday, April 20 and Tuesday, April 21 northbound Centre Street N. will be closed to allow two open southbound lanes between 6 a.m. and 9 a.m. After 9 a.m. on both days northbound Centre Street will be reopened to allow one lane of traffic in each direction.

More information on when the road will reopen will be provided as it becomes available.

Detours have been set up at both locations. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternate routes as major delays are expected on Centre Street during the morning commute.
