New road closures and lane restrictions

Special Events
Wheels for Wells – Saturday, June 1
 
17 years and up bike route:
  • The right lane on eastbound Highway 22x will be closed from 37 Street S.W. to 24 Street S.W. from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • There will be no parking on 24 Street S.W. at Glenmore Christian Academy just north of Bridle Ridge Heights from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • The speed limit will be reduced to 50 km/h on Highway 22X between 6 Street S.W. and 53 Street S.W. from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
16 years and under bike route:
  • Bridleridge Heights S.W. on to 24 Street S.W.
  • Go on to the pathway north of Everridge Drive S.W. from 24 Street S.W.
  • Continue down on Fish Creek Boulevard S.W. just north of Everbrook Drive.
Motorists are advised to watch out for cyclists on the routes outlined above.|

Sunday, June 2 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • 1 Avenue N.E. will be closed between 4 Street N.E. and Edmonton Trail.

10 Avenue S.E. east of 3 Street S.E. will be closed from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily on Saturday, June 1 and Sunday, June 2. 
 
Calgary Tour de Nuit – Sunday, June 2
There will be right lane closures from 12 noon to 2 p.m. on the following routes:
  • Northbound Elbow Drive from Lansdowne Avenue to 2 Street S.W.
  • 2 Street S.W. from Elbow Drive to 11 Avenue S.W.
  • Southbound 11 Street from 6 Avenue S.W. to 9 Avenue S.W.
  • 9 Avenue from 11 Street S.E. to 1 Street S.E.
  • Southbound 1 Street S.E. from 9 Avenue to 12 Avenue S.W.
  • Eastbound 12 Avenue from 1 Street S.E. to 8 Street S.E.
  • 8 Street S.E. from Spiller Road to 34 Avenue S.E.
  • Manchester Road from 34 Avenue S.E. to 29 Avenue S.E.
  • 39 Avenue from Manchester Road to 42 Avenue S.E.
There will be left lane closures between 12 noon and 2 p.m. on the following routes:
  • The left lane on westbound 11 Avenue S.W. will be closed from 2 Street S.W. to 4 Street S.W.
  • Westbound 6 Avenue will have a left lane closure from 4 Street S.W. to 11 Street S.W.
Mayor’s 23rd Annual Environment Expo
The northbound right lane will be closed on Macleod Trail between 9 Avenue S.E. and 7 Avenue S.E. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily between Tuesday, June 4 until Thursday, June 6.
 
There will be a large number of buses in this area and motorists are advised to use alternative routes, as delays are expected.
 
Northeast
Southbound 36 Street N.E. south of 26 Avenue N.E. will have two left lanes closed starting at 10 p.m. on Saturday, June 1 until 3 p.m. on Sunday, June 2, for LRT Extension Project.
 
Southeast
3Spruce Drive at Cedar Crescent S.W. (north leg) will be closed starting at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 31 until 5 a.m. on Monday, June 3, for underground utility construction.
 
Southwest
8 Street S.W. at 7 Avenue S.W. will have various lane closures from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Saturday, June 1, for construction.
 
29 Street S.W. between 29 Avenue S.W. and 30 Avenue S.W. will be closed from 7 p.m. on Friday, May 31 until 7 p.m. on Sunday, June 2, for underground utility construction.
 
Hull Avenue S.W. between Horton Road S.W. and Macleod Trail will be closed from 7 p.m. on Monday, June 3 until 3 p.m. on Friday, July 12, for major road reconstruction.

 
Ongoing road closures and lane restrictions
Southeast
Eastbound 9 Avenue S.E. between Macleod Trail and 3 Street S.E. will be closed and the parking will be restricted in this area from 7 p.m. on Friday, May 31 until 5 a.m. on Monday, June 3, for utility installation.
 
Motorists are advised that the intersection at 84 Street S.E. and Glenmore Trail will be permanently closed to north and southbound traffic starting at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 31. Through traffic on Glenmore Trail will continue to flow. Alternate routes for motorists and local traffic must be used. This work is part of the Southeast Stoney Trail Project.
 
Northbound 52 Street S.E. south of 90 Avenue S.E. the right lane will be closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily from Tuesday, May 28 until Wednesday, May 29, and from 9 a.m. on Thursday, May 30 until 5 p.m. on Monday, June 3,  for utilities. The speed limit is restricted to 50km/h.
 
Westbound 90 Avenue S.E. west of 52 Street S.E. will have the right lane closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily between Tuesday, May 28 until Thursday, May 30, for utilities.

52 Street S.E. between 86 Avenue S.E. and 90 Avenue S.E. will be closed from 7 a.m. on Friday, May 31 until 5 a.m. on Monday, June 3, for utilities. The speed limit will be reduced to 50 km/h. Delays are expected and motorists are advised to use Barlow Trail as alternative route.
 
90 Avenue S.E. between 52 Street S.E. and 60 Avenue S.E. will be closed from 7 a.m. on Friday, May 31 until 5 a.m. on Monday, June 3, for utilities. Delays are expected and motorists are advised to use Barlow Trail as alternative route.
 
25 Avenue S.E. between Spiller Road S.E. and Dartmouth Road the west Manchester entrance access will be closed, from 7 a.m. on Saturday, June 1 until 7 p.m. on Sunday, June 2 for utilities.

Northwest
Westbound 16 Avenue N.W. west of Sarcee Trail, one lane will be closed, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily, until Friday, May 31, for noise wall replacement.
 
Eastbound 16 Avenue N.W. at 24 Street N.W., will have various lane closures on a daily basis, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, until Friday, May 31, for noise wall replacement.
 
Southwest
Northbound Macleod Trail between 18 Avenue S.W. to 9 Avenue S.W. will have various lane closures starting at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29 until 5 a.m. on Thursday, May 30, for paving.
 
Southbound 1 Street S.E. between9 Avenue S.E. to 18 Avenue S.E. will have various lane closures starting at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29 until 5 a.m. on Thursday, May 30, for paving.

Glenmore Trail S.W. between Highway 8 and Crowchild Trail will be closed, from 9 p.m. on Sunday, May 26 until 5 a.m. on Monday, May 27, for street cleaning activities.

The northbound right lane on Centre Street between 6 Avenue S.W. and 5 Avenue S.W. is closed until further notice. This is due to emergency utility work.
 
 
Glenmore Trail at 37 Street S.W. the left lane will be closed in both eastbound and westbound directions from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29, for fence repairs.
 
 
Long term projects – road closures and lane restrictions
Northwest
Eastbound 2 Avenue N.W. between 10 Street N.W. and 9A Street N.W. will be closed from 9 a.m. on Wednesday, May 8 until 6 p.m. on Sunday, June 30, for construction.
 
Bowness Road N.W. at 16 Avenue N.W. will have various daily lane restrictions, from 6 p.m. on Monday, May 21 until Sunday, June 30, for bridge rehabilitation project.
 
Northeast
36 Street N.E. will be closed between 80 Avenue N.E. and Country Hills Boulevard, beginning Monday, April 8, between Airport Trail and Country Hills Boulevard for the roadway to be reconstructed from two lanes to four lanes. The closure, which will last approximately four months, will allow Airport Trail connections to be made to 36 Street N.E. eastbound from the Airport Trail tunnel. Motorists are advised to use Métis Trail N.E. as an alternative route. For more information, visit 36 Street N.E. road reconstruction and widening.
 
Lane closures on Centre Street between Laycock Drive and Thorncrest Road will restrict traffic to a single lane in each direction starting at 4 a.m. Monday, April 22, for the Centre Street Reconstruction and Transit Priority project. Southwest
Westbound 13 Avenue S.W. between 1 Street S.W. to 4 Street S.W. will be closed starting at 7 a.m. on Monday, April 29, for approximately two months for the 13 Avenue Heritage Greenway Project.
 
Southeast
68 Street S.E. between 106 Avenue S.E. and 108 Avenue S.E. will have all traffic shifted to an adjacent eastside road, to allow for utility installations and surface upgrades, starting at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 6. The speed limit of the detour road will be reduced to 30 km/h. This stage of construction is expected to last until mid-June. Updates will be provided as the project progresses.
 
52 Street S.E. at 126 Avenue S.E., one lane will be reduced to one lane in each direction and there will be no left turns at the intersection from 7 a.m. on Friday, May 3 until the end of June, for utility installation.
 
Motorists heading north on Deerfoot Trail to travel east on Stoney Trail will be re-routed to a different off ramp for eight weeks beginning Thursday, May 9, 2013. The existing eastbound off ramp is being removed so a new ramp can be built in its place as part of the Calgary Ring Road.
 
11 Avenue S.E. between Maggie Street and 8 Street S.E. will be closed from 7 a.m. on Monday, May 13 until 6 p.m. on Friday, June 7, for construction.
