New road closures and lane restrictions for July 19, 2013

Northwest
16 Avenue N.W. between Shaganappi Trail and Bowness Road will be reduced to one lane in each direction, from 6 a.m. on Saturday, July 20 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, July 21, for bridge construction.
 
Eastbound Crowchild Trail at Shaganappi Trail will have one lane closed from 6 a.m. on Saturday, July 20 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, July 21, for construction.
 
Eastbound 16 Avenue N.W. at Crowchild Trail will be reduced to one lane in each direction from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 20, for sound wall installation.
 
53 Avenue N.W. at the intersection of 53 Street N.W. will be closed from 6 a.m. Monday July 22 until 7 p.m. Friday July 26 for utilities work. 
 
Southeast
52 Street S.E. between 90 Avenue S.E. to 94 Avenue S.E. will have various lane closures and the speed limit will be reduced to 50 km/h from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, July 19, and 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, July 21, for construction.
 
48 Street S.E. north of 90 Avenue will be closed until 3 p.m. on Monday, August 12, for utilities.
 
90 Avenue S.E. between 48 Street S.E. and 52 Street S.E. will have one lane closed in each direction from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily from Monday, July 22 until Friday, July 26.  In addition,  the lane will be restricted between 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. from Monday, July 29 until Monday, August 12, for utilities.
 
Northbound and southbound 52 Street S.E. at Glenmore Trail will have the left lane closed from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Monday, July 22, for traffic signals work.

Special Events
 
The Union Ltd. – Mad Decent Block Party – Friday, July 19
54 Avenue N.E. between Westwinds Drive N.E. and 44 Street N.E. will be closed from 10 a.m. on Friday, July 19 until midnight on Saturday, July 20. Please watch for pedestrians in the area. 
 
Calgary Multicultural Arts Society Feistaval – Latin Festival – Saturday, July 20 and Sunday, July 21
8 Avenue S.E. between 1 Street S.E. and Macleod Trail will be closed starting at 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 18 to 6 a.m. on Monday, July 22.
Please watch for police and numerous pedestrians in the area.
 
Kensington Sun and Salsa Festival – Sunday, July 21
Kensington Road between 10 Street N.W. and 13 Street N.W. will be closed from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday, July 21.
 
10 Street N.W. between 3 Avenue N.W. and Memorial Drive will be closed from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday, July 21.
Please watch for police and numerous pedestrians in the area.
 
 
Ongoing road closures and lane restrictions
 
Northwest
Memorial Drive between 16 Street N.W. and 19 Street N.W.  will be reduced to one lane in each direction until 6 p.m. on Sunday, July 21, due to flood damage.
 
2 Avenue Road N.W. between 9A Street N.W. and 10 Street N.W. is closed until 8 p.m. on Saturday, July 20, for construction.
 
Northeast
Northbound 52 Street N.E. south of 16 Avenue N.E. will have the two left lanes closed and through traffic will be maintained from 7 a.m. on Saturday, July 20 until 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 21 for water main repair.

Edmonton Trail between 28 Avenue N.E. to 41 Avenue N.E. will be restricted to the two west lanes, one lane in each direction starting at 6 a.m. on Saturday, July 21. The two east lanes are closed for reconstruction for approximately three months.  Access to several roads on the east side of Edmonton Trail are also closed. Businesses and residents still have access from the east. The sidewalks along the east side are closed and bus stops will be temporarily re-located. 36 Street N.E. will be closed between 80 Avenue N.E. and Country Hills Boulevard, beginning Monday, April 8, between Airport Trail and Country Hills Boulevard for the roadway to be reconstructed from two lanes to four lanes. The closure, which will last approximately four months, will allow Airport Trail connections to be made to 36 Street N.E. eastbound from the Airport Trail tunnel. Motorists are advised to use Métis Trail N.E. as an alternative route. For more information, visit 36 Street N.E. road reconstruction and widening.

Southeast
8 Street S.E. between 9 Avenue S.E. and MacDonald Avenue will be closed from 7 p.m. Friday, July 19 to 7 p.m. Sunday, July 21 for utility installations. Local residential and business traffic only will be allowed to enter 8 Street S.E. with remaining traffic detoured to 11 Street S.E. to bypass the construction.

Dartmouth roundabout (Dartmouth Road S.E. at 26 Avenue S.E.) will have various lane closures from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily from Wednesday, July 17 to Wednesday, July 31. Saturdays and Sundays the road will be open and the lane restrictions will only happen during weekdays with the exception of 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 20, for construction.
 
Eastbound Anderson Road S.E. five hundred meters west of Acadia Drive S.E. will have the right lane closed and the speed limit reduced to 60 km/h from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 20, for catch-basin repairs.

3 Street S.E. between 7 Avenue S.E. and 9 Avenue S.E. will have one lane in both directions closed until the end of September, due to flood damage.
 
Northbound and southbound Blackfoot Trail at the bridge over Glenmore Trail will have the two left lanes closed from 4 a.m. to 12 p.m. Sunday, July 21 to allow for work related to the Blackfoot Trail Bridge rehabilitation project.
 
Northbound and southbound Blackfoot Trail at the bridge over Glenmore Trail will have the two left lanes closed from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Monday, July 22 to allow for work related to the Blackfoot Trail Bridge rehabilitation project.

15 Street S.E. (Heritage) between Heritage Drive to westbound Glenmore Trail will be closed until approximately Thursday, August 15, for reconstruction of the road related to the flood.
 
Northbound 11 Street S.E. south of Heritage Meadows Way S.E. will have the left lane closed and the speed limit will be reduced to 50 km/h from 7 p.m. on Friday, July 19 to 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 20, for utilities.

11 Street S.E. south Heritage Meadows Way S.E. will be reduced to one lane in each direction and the traffic will be shifted to the east side of roadway from 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 20 to 5 a.m. on Monday, July 22, for utility installation. The speed limit will be reduced to 50 km/h and 30 km/h at the median crossover ramps. Motorists can expect major delays in the area.
 
114 Avenue S.E.  between 68 Street S.E. to Stoney Trail will have the speed reduced to 50 km/h starting at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 16 until the end of September due to construction activities adjacent to roadway. This work is being completed for the Stoney Trail tie-in work.

The lower deck of the Centre Street bridge between Riverfront Avenue S.E. and Memorial Drive N.W. will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly starting on Monday, July 15 to Saturday, July 20, for bridge construction.
 
Southwest
Southbound Crowchild Trail S.W. between 50 Avenue S.W. and Glenmore Trail will have various lane closures from 9 p.m. on Thursday, July 19 to 5 a.m. on Sunday, July 21, for road construction.
 
Richmond Road S.W. east of 37 Street S.W. will be closed from 7 a.m. on Saturday, July 20 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, July 21, for construction.
 
11 Avenue S.W. west of 1 Street S.W. will be closed from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, July 20, for construction of a new building.
 
Centre Street S. between 2 Avenue S.W. and 3 Avenue S.W. will be reduced in one lane in each direction from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, July 20, for utility work.
 
14 Street S.W. between 16 Avenue S.W. and 17 Avenue S.W. will be closed from 7 p.m. on Friday, July 19 to 5 a.m. on Monday, July 22, for underground utility installation.

6 Street S.W. between 7 Avenue S.W. and 8 Avenue S.W. will be closed from 7 a.m. on Saturday, July 20 to 9 p.m. on Sunday, July 21, for utilities installation.
 
Westbound 2 Avenue S.W. between 5 Street S.W. and 6 Street S.W. will be closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily starting on Wednesday, July 17 to Monday, July 22. In addition, the roadway will again be closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, July 23, for Enmax utilities.

Beginning at 9 a.m. on Monday, July 15, the single lane bridge on 9 Avenue S.W. over 14 Street S.W.  will be closed. Traffic will be maintained on eastbound with two lanes on 9 Avenue S.W. over 14 Street S.W. In addition, 14 Street S.W. under the 9 Avenue S.W. bridge will have various lane closures starting at 9 a.m. on Monday, July 15 continuing until the end of September, for the 9 Avenue bridge over 14 Street S.W. rehabilitation.
 
14 Street S.W. under the 9 Avenue S.W. bridge in both directions and the sidewalk will be closed from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. on Friday, July 19 and Saturday, July 20, for bridge construction work related to the 9 Avenue bridge over 14 street S.W. rehabilitation.
 
Elbow Drive S.W. between Anderson Road and Glenmore Trail will have various lanes closed daily during off-peak traffic hours, starting Saturday, June 29 until mid-July to allow for paving. Calgary Police Service will be on site to assist with traffic control as paving crews progress through intersections.
