Calgary road closures and lane restrictions for February 25, 2013

Calgary, AB – February 25, 2013                                                                 for immediate release
 
Southeast
52 Street S.E. between 90 Avenue and 94 Avenue S.E. will be closed southbound and reduced to one northbound lane starting Friday, March 1, at 7 a.m. and remaining closed until Thursday, March 7, at 6 p.m., for utility work. Detours will be posted – drivers are advised to use Barlow Trail South.  
 
Anderson Road S.E. east of Acadia Drive S.E. will have an eastbound right lane closure and a speed reduction to 60 km/h from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, February 27. This is to accommodate area road construction.    
 
84 Street S.E., south of Venture Avenue S.E. will be reduced to 50 km/h, starting at 7a.m. Wednesday, February 13. There will be periodic stopping of traffic by flagman, to allow for utility construction related to the new Enmax Energy Centre. This phase of construction is expected to last until March 1.
 
Southwest
Water Services will be reconstructing the Scarboro storm sewer main in a series of phased constructions starting at 9 a.m. Wednesday, February 27 and ending at Sunday, March 3, weather permitting.
  • The first stage of construction will have an eastbound right lane closure of 12 avenue S.W. at 18 Street S.W. and a closure of 18 Street S.W. from 12 Avenue S.W. to Sharon Avenue S.W.
  • The second stage of construction will completely close 18 Street S.W. from Sharon Avenue S.W. to Sudbury Avenue S.W.    
Drivers in the Scarboro community will be directed to use 15 Avenue S.W. to 16 Street S.W. to exit or enter the community. Alternate access points into the Scarboro community along 17 Avenue S.W. are recommended during construction.
 
The exit ramp from eastbound Glenmore Trail (highway 8 connection) to southbound Sarcee Trail will be reduced in width and the speed limit lowered to 50 km/h from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Tuesday, February 26, to allow for work on the traffic signals. The Calgary Police Service will be on site to direct traffic as required.
 
14 Street S.W. between 11 Avenue and 12 Avenue S.W. will have left lane closures in both directions from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Wednesday, February 27, for utility work.
 
Eastbound 5 Avenue S.W. between 6 Street S.W. and 5 Street S.W., three right lanes will be closed, from 9 p.m. Monday, February 25, to 5 a.m. Tuesday, February 26, for water services utility work. Alternate routes are recommended as delays are expected.
 
Northwest
Arbour Lake Road N.W. at Crowfoot Rise N.W., the road will be closed, from 9 a.m. Tuesday, February 19, to 8 p.m. Tuesday, February 26, for a water services repair. Alternate routes are recommended as delays are expected in this area.
 
Rundle LRT Station Refurbishment
In order to facilitate the construction occurring at the Rundle LRT Station, the southbound left lane of 36 Street N.E., just south of 26 Avenue N.E., will be closed, starting on  Tuesday, February 12,  between  9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The closure will occur daily between February 12 and March 1, (excluding Saturday and Sunday).
